During our visit to Le Claire, Iowa we stumbled upon 129 Coffee and Wine Bar while strolling along the street. We were looking for a spot where we could sit outside and enjoy views of the Mississippi River, and this quaint little bar fit the bill perfectly. The outdoor deck, which faces the river, offers stunning views—especially if you're lucky enough to catch a river cruise ship passing by. However, with only about four tables available outside, seating can be limited during busier times.
Our experience was quite pleasant. We were greeted promptly, however our waitress was busy and tried to be attentive throughout our visit. The outdoor space was lovely, although some nearby patrons were a bit loud, which slightly detracted from the relaxing atmosphere we had hoped for—not that it was the establishment's fault. We eventually moved inside and found the bar to be cozy and inviting, with various seating options, including bar seating, high-top tables, and a cozy corner table with cushioned seating for four. The atmosphere inside was cheerful and welcoming.
While we didn't order food, I tried their espresso martini, and my husband had a Pinot Noir. Both drinks were decent, though we found them to be on the pricey side. For a cocktail like an espresso martini, which was over $10, I expected a bit more flair in the presentation, such as a coffee bean or cocoa garnish, but this one lacked those touches.
Overall, we loved our experience and will definitely return the next time we're...
Read moreI really don’t like to leave negative feedback, but this is pretty important for the health and safety of patrons. We came in over the weekend and ordered one of the small plates, the goat cheese dip. Their kitchen set up seems to just be a toaster oven, mini fridge, and counter, which is fine. What is not fine however, is we watched as one of the bartenders pulled someone else’s order out of the toaster oven and proceed to grab the toast off the tray with her bare hands before serving it to the customer’s. She then cleared another table, returned to the counter without washing her hands, and grabbed our toast out of the oven with her bare hands. A quick Google search will state, “According to the FDA, bare hand contact can transfer dangerous pathogens from hands to food, spreading foodborne illness. In fact, bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods is responsible for 30% of restaurant foodborne illness outbreaks.” Please, for the sake of your customer’s, invest in food safe...
Read moreMy group and I really liked this bar. The Coronas were only $3 and I had one of the martinis. I could tell it had alcohol in it but it was mixed really well where I wasn’t drowning in vodka. I would definitely return here. The staff was really attentive and came to our table any time anyone needed another drink. I would probably try more of the...
