Really relaxing and informative cruise on the Twilight. Captain Kevin would point out wildlife (Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Coots, and many more) using the ships P.A. along with pointing out information about the barges we passed, and the train bridges, and the locks. We took the 2 day cruise that starts in Le Claire, Iowa and goes north to Dubuque, Iowa. The staff assigns a table to you as you board the Twilight which is yours for the duration of the cruise. They fed us a continental breakfast, snack, a plated lunch, another snack, and a plated dinner on the first day. The food was pretty good! We stayed overnight at a hotel in Dubuque and had Breakfast at Tony Roma's. Then back on board we had a snack, plated lunch, another snack, and a plated dinner. All the crew is friendly and very helpful. There is a well stocked small bar on the 3rd deck with many different beers. And they have souvenir glasses you can buy for your mixed drinks or wine. The gift shop is open like an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. There was magnets, key chains, light jackets, t-shirts, blankets, and other fun things branded with Riverboat Twilight embroidery. Make sure to up on the 4th level to the pilot house, and look at the big wooden steering wheel. Totally recommend the Riverboat Twilight as a...
Read moreWe did the two day cruise from Le Claire to Dubuque (and back) late July 2022. The fare includes one night at the Grand Harbor Hotel. Day 2 (morning in Dubuque), admission is included to the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Around 11:30, the boat leaves for the day cruise back to Le Claire. Oh … let’s not forget the food! Yes … they feed you a LOT! Day 1 - light breakfast upon boarding; lunch with dessert; mid-afternoon snack; dinner with dessert. Day 2 - breakfast at the hotel, lunch with dessert; mid-afternoon snack; dinner with dessert! Iced tea, lemonade, water, and coffee ALWAYS available. There’s a full bar - mixed drinks, beer, hard Selzer, wine - almost anything you want. There are comfy rocking chairs and deck chairs almost everywhere. The captain is a wealth of information about the river, towns, and surrounding area. Trivia sheets/contest - pay attention to him LOL. Afternoon entertainment too! Very relaxing.
This was something we’d talked about doing for a few years. So glad we finally did it! Thoroughly enjoyable … and my long love affair with the Mississippi River has grown!
One note - wear comfortable shoes (lots of stairs and walking) AND take sunscreen and a hat!...
Read moreI don't know where to begin!!! If you want a trip where you can just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature without a lot of people. Then this trip is for you! Live professional music, great narration of the history, land, landmarks, etc... I have never seen so many eagles! The crew made you feel like you were family( the family you like and look forward to seeing). The food was really good. We did the 2 day cruise, so our hotel was included in the price of the cruise. They even took our luggage to our hotel room so it was waiting for us when we got to our room. They even picked it back up from our room the next day and they made sure it was on the Riverboat on the return trip. That was included. No extra fee. They really went the extra mile to make everyone comfortable, and the trip hassle free. The indoor waterpark at the hotel was included as well as day two's breakfast at the hotel. We also received rickets to the National Mississippi museum and aquarium, where I was able to pet live stingrays. My only complaint is that the trip ended too soon. 2 days of rest, relaxation, great food, and all the things they did to make this cruise memorable. I wish it lasted for a week! I can hardly...
