My companion and I decided to try El Dorado in Kroger Shopping Center because we had passed by it while traveling down Hobbs Road a few times (beside the fact that we like Mexican cuisine). There were plenty of places to park on this particular day. We entered the restaurant and it is a large, open one -- meaning that there is no separation of larger parties to smaller ones. There were a couple of larger parties, which could be loud at times and those parties were next to the smaller parties. The loudness of their conversations can interfere with cozy conversation. The servers weren't as courteous as other Mexican Restaurants, nor were they as helpful. As you will notice when you're seated, the menu has no shortage of choices of their dishes. If you have questions as to the taste or the portions, our two servers gave "middle of the road" answers. This was our first visit, which we shared with our servers, and we did not receive any good opinions as to what we should try or lean towards. It almost seemed as if it is was an inconvenience that we had even asked. (Hint to their servers: a portion of your tip derives from this assistance.) The meal didn't take long to arrive, but being that there weren't many tables being served, the 10-minute wait wasn't bad. The food came out hot and was really good -- about what you'd find at other Mexican restaurants. We were warned not to touch the plates because they were very hot. We appreciated that. After digging in, I was almost half-way into the dish when I found a piece of bone in my food. My companion and I found that a bit off-putting. I promptly rose from my seat and notified the manager (who was at the register) of the piece of bone that I found. After investigating the object, he asked what it was. I, then, repeated that it was a piece of bone that I had just found in my dish. He apologized and that was it. The manager did not offer a refund for my dish or a discount or anything for the inconvenience. We finished our meal, received our check right away (we did not ask for it), and our table was cleared. We, then, walked to the register and I told the cashier (the manager had left) of the bone that I had found in my food; he, also, apologized. No offer to discount the meal nor take make it right. Overall, our opinion of this particular restaurant is this: There is nothing very special about this one. If you don't want to travel very far from the area around Hobbs Road and you want the same taste as you would from a further Mexican restaurant, then...
Read moreEl Dorado Mexican Restaurant #2, located right beside Kroger, is a fantastic choice for anyone craving delicious Mexican cuisine. The restaurant offers plenty of parking, which is always a plus, especially when visiting during busy times. Upon entering, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly and attentive staff ready to make your experience enjoyable.
One standout feature of El Dorado is their super hot salsa. If you're a fan of spicy food, definitely ask for it you'll be more than pleased. It packs quite the punch, and the portion size is generous, ensuring that you won't run out anytime soon. For those who enjoy bold flavors, this salsa is a must-try.
The food itself is simply excellent. The queso puff is a standout with its crispy exterior, gooey and cheesy on top. The chalupa is piled high with fresh ingredients, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The beans deserve special mention for their creamy, smooth texture, and the rice was surprisingly delicious. I’m not typically one to eat much rice, but I couldn't resist here. It was perfectly seasoned and complemented the meal nicely.
Service is consistently friendly, and the staff is quick to refill drinks or bring anything else you might need. Whether you're dining in or picking up, El Dorado Mexican Restaurant #2 offers a satisfying and flavorful experience. The generous portion sizes, especially of the salsa and side dishes, ensure that you leave feeling full and content. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this local gem it's well...
Read moreI remember when this restaurant first opened. Our family was very excited and happy to welcome this new restaurant into our neighborhood. We went twice when it first opened and the food was tasteless, and the service was not great. We wanted to give it some time to work out the kinks, before making a final decision. We went to dinner tonight with the family. The service was not good. The waiter never brought one of the children's meals. The food was terrible,. We asked for a side of guacamole, and received less than a teaspoon of this, and was charged for it. The worst part of this experience was when I asked to speak with a manager, and I explained how disappointed we were with our experience. I explained how important it was for us to support local businesses, and did not want to give a bad review, but wanted him to know about our experience. The manager said nothing. Not even offering an apology. I was shocked. The man honestly could have cared less. We will not return to this establishment again. I will never take a client here, or refer anyone to eat here. Go to Mr sombrero, Estabans, Lupe tortillas, papasitos or pretty much any other mexican restaurant in League City, but...
