Retreats New Orleans Style Daiquiris & Eats — Restaurant in League City

Stopped by Retreats New Orleans Style Restaurant as recommended by a friend and I'm soooooooo glad that I did!!

I ordered the catfish basket and I'm still dreaming about those nuggets a day later!! The catfish was fried to perfection with the precise balance of crispness on the ends, well manicured seasonings while cooked through in the center.

The fries were very well-seasoned and they complimented the fish nuggets very well. The price was also nice, especially in comparison to many restaurants with the same quality.

Based on all of the other food, I think I may have gotten either a bad batch of the red beans and rice or it was intentionally seasoned blandly for the customer basis in the area.

And did I mention the daiquiri's that are exquisitely blended to help you enjoy the beverage while achieving a tipsiness for even seasoned partakers of spirited beverages!

They have flavors for days... ranging from mango and peach to ultimate drinks such as the TKO and traditional New Orleans Hurricane. They have so many flavors but you can also mix and match!!!

Had a chance to meet and chat it up with the owner, who was extremely cordial and conversational. He didn't try to rush the conversation and was very relatable. You can tell that he loves what he does- which is always great!!

The employees in the store were also very friendly, fast and outgoing. And I loved the extra touch of having the charging power bank station to charge devices! They've thought of everything!

The entire experience was phenomenal! This is a great place for girlfriend socials or homeboy meet-ups! Went here today and my wife and I usually hate trying Cajun places as I been cooking Cajun for over 50 years and we know it won't be as good and usually mediocre but this place delivers.

Had the fried catfish basket and luckily they let you change to a different side and we got the gumbo. I also got the meat pies and red beans and rice.

I read earlier from a reviewer that the red beans and rice was bland but I found them seasoned well. The fried catfish was excellent and seasoned well and the gumbo was actually good and my wife was supposed to share it but gave me a taste and proceeded to eat it all. She is a gumbo snob and from my one taste and she liking it shows they did a good job on it.

Now my meat pies were very good and it had been years since I had them and it was nice to get them and they were authentic and tasty. Now personally I have never been offered a sauce choice or any sauce do I asked for suggestion but the sauce was too strong and over powered the meat pies but no problem I just ate them without like I have always and enjoyed.

Overall this place gets it and knows good Cajun cooking and should satisfy anyone looking for real authentic Cajun cooking and even a Louisiana transplant will enjoy this place. Highly recommend this place.

Also I am glad they let us try several Daiquiris as my wife never had before and the girl made a special blend that my wife loved and I got the Hurricane for a true New Orleans experience. Daiquiris shops are almost every corner in New Orleans.

I been cooking Cajun for over 50 years and even moved to New Orleans to work and learn from the home of Cajun and have even written extensively on the cuisine.

I pass by Retreats multiple times a week on the freeway, and wondered about this place, but never stopped in, because its location is not easily accessible on my normal route. However, social media did what it does, and after reading some posts and seeing some photos, I HAD to try it out.

I ordered on the app for pickup, which was super easy to do. It said my order would be ready in 15 minutes, which is about how long it would take me to get there. However, on my way there, I got another text saying my order would not be ready for another hour. I was pretty sure that had to be a mistake so I drove over anyway. The parking lot was packed (good sign), there were several people in line (another good sign) and from what I could see, all the tables were filled (another good sign). Once I got to the counter and asked about my order, they confirmed that due to the busyness of the night, the order pickup time was correct, but since I was there, they’d start working on it. The catfish was AMAZING! Crispy and tender, melt in your mouth, great flavor. The hush puppies were fantastic, and the fries were perfection.
