This USED to be my favorite place to eat. In the beginning, I raved about it to my friends. Now I feel like I owe them an apology. This places food has been steadily declining for the last six months or so. The most distressing thing is the size of the rolls is about HALF the size that they used to be but of course, prices have not changed.
This visit tonight was my last. The Crazy roll used to be about 1.5” in diameter, a FULL bite. Now it is no bigger than 1” (I’ve got pictures). I used to be nearly full after eating one. Tonight I had to order a second dish, Thai red curry, to feel like I had eaten. No luck there either. The food, though ordered at the same time, came out staggered, one dish at a time every 5 minutes or so. This normally would aggravate me, but the curry was so hot, since it had obviously been microwaved to the edge of boiling. Seriously, there was microwave splatter around the rim of the bowl and it was LITERALLY bubbling. After it cooled it was so DIFFERENT than their red curry has been in the past. I’ve never had. Jerry that was so sickeningly sweet. I’m not normally a complainer. This stuff was not just a LITTLE sweeter, it was like eating a kids breakfast cereal. No exaggeration....
Finally, and this is the big one to sushi people, their fish was not spoiled, but not at all fresh. While I’m sure they probably were just due for a fish delivery, it looked bad. Not moist and even a little dry in places.....again, I’ve got pictures. When I’m paying for fish basically by the gram, I expect it to be fresher than what I got at...
Read moreI've been eating sushi for about 35 years. Ocean Sushi is my new favorite. They managed to win me over by simply paying attention to little details. A small neighborhood place with a clean and well decorated atmosphere and very good prices. The service was great! It reminded me of my first experiences at a Japanese restaurant as a kid. They greeted everyone in Japanese, spoke some Japanese, and served every dish with both hands and a traditional bow. But where it got good was the food. The sushi was made about as close to correct as I have seen in years. Every piece of nigiri was visibly seasoned on top with tiny shavings of green onion and a tiny bit of wasabi and other seasoning between the rice (real sushi rice) and fish. The menu had a large selection of rolls and custom options like brown rice and cucumber rolls, soy paper etc. They can even make you a low carb roll if you wish. The sushi chefs were spot on. They served each dish as you ordered with no rush. I want this place to be successful. But I kind of want to keep it to...
Read moreThe last time I had sushi before this place, I nearly died. If you are interested as to how, look up side effects of escolar and its sneaky prevalent disguise as super white tuna. Let's just say I would have died on the throne. Any ol' way, I departed from sushi for what seemed like forever, but, at my wife's persistent nagging, I decided to give sushi another go. Damn, I'm pissed that I quit sushi for so long. This place brought me back. Top quality in my book. So, if you decided that sushi ain't for you, I suggest holding off on a permanent judgement before you try this place. Also, apparently, the whole world but me knew that there are better days of the week than others to eat sushi. Well thanks a lot, schoolin! My education ain't worth a velvet painting of two dolphins getting it on...but I think they might have that painting in this place. Plus, sweet tunes, so save your toilet wipes for them other fishy farms. This place is...
