Read moreAs someone who frequents the original location on Gillham Plaza, it disappoints me that I have to write a negative review about a restaurant I thoroughly enjoy. I’ve been going to Billie’s for years and after hearing there was a new location in Leawood that was closer to where I live I was super excited to go. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sando and my fiancé ordered the Rueben which are things we’ve ordered a multitude of times. We didn’t even wait that long for our food, I’d say 10-15 min tops. When it came out the food was so cold it seemed like it had been sitting there for who knows how long. Both of our sandwiches and order of fries were cold to the touch. The servings on both sandwiches were abysmal compared to what we have received at the other location. My sandwich was missing the garlic aioli which made what was already a dry sandwich drier. My fiancé ended up getting sick 30 minutes after our lunch likely due to the temperature at which the food was served. We suspect it was never warmed to proper temps which would explain the short wait for our food. It was a super disappointing experience for a place that we know so well. I understand this location is still new but we probably won’t be going back, we will however continue to go to the original location and hope Leawood can figure out the kinks.
Also, I don’t know why a previous 5 star review said this place has a great selection of meat and produce in their aisles? This place is a restaurant, not a grocery store. There are no aisles here. Seems like a fake and/or forced review...
Read moreTo start off with the atmosphere and service were fantastic. The building was clean, open, and aesthetically pleasing. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. And the menu looked awesome with tons of options.
We went in on a Saturday at about 6, super excited to find a new place that can accommodate my daughter's food sensitivities because they are numerous and it's difficult to find places to eat. I ordered the Miso Lime Shrimp, my wife, the tomato and chicken curry, and we ordered a hamburger Medium Well for my daughter (2 y.o.).
The hamburger came out raw, seared well with the very edges being mostly brown and the remaining 90% being red. The chicken came out relatively pink, which may be attributed to a smoke ring because it tasted about right. The shrimp in my bowl came out blue/grey, with only the outer edges showing red and pink and had a strong mushiness to it.
So we took the burger back while the restaurant was relatively empty (one couple in line) and asked if we could get it cooked a bit longer. 15/20 minutes later we headed out.
This place obviously does well, we more than likely had a fluke of an order, but paying 60 bucks for under(barely)cooked food that we largely weren't even able to eat left a bad taste, literally, and definitely has us turned off...
