Typically, I don't have many problems with Sarpino's. I've always hated how slow they are to get you your food (ALWAYS upwards of an hour) but it was something I could put up with because the food is good. Tonight, however, it was an easy decision to make that I will never be ordering from this particular Sarpino's again.
I work nightshift at a hospital and realized when I got to work at 7:20 pm that I hadn't eaten since 9 am. I quickly placed an order at Sarpino's and got the confirmation email for it at 7:42 pm. When it got to be almost 10:30 and I STILL had not received my order but my account online had switched from "out for delivery" to "completed", I called to the shop to figure out what happened.
According to the manager, the girl who was supposed to be delivering my food (I think her name is Jennifer or Jenny), claimed that she had delivered it around 8:45 so they of course believed I had gotten my food. The delivery girl told her boss that she had dropped the food off with the person at the front desk. The girl had called me at 9:03 PM to tell me she had my food. I didn't answer the call because 1) I'm at work in an Emergency room and 2) It was an unknown number to me.
At 8 PM, all of the doors to the hospital lock except for the ones to the Emergency Room. I had been sitting at the front desk of the Emergency Room all night since 7:30 pm and no one had come in unless they were checking in to be seen. The fact that she told her manager though that she had delivered the food to someone at the desk is annoying to say the least because it is an outright lie.
The manger was wonderful and said they had another order coming to the ER shortly so he would remake my food for me himself and send it with that order.
Another 45 minutes goes by and the night delivery girl arrives with the order for the ER. What wasn't included with it though? My food. She looked like she felt really bad and told me that she thinks she accidentally gave it to the person she dropped food off to at the last place she went. At this point, I was furious. I was nice to the girl of course because at least she hadn't taken my food and lied about it. However, I was still pissed. It was now 11:30 and I hadn't eaten for almost 15 hours.
I spoke to the manager again (for the fourth time that night) and told him that I wanted my food brought to me as soon as possible and my money back from the order. He said he would void the payment but that my food would still not get to me for about another 45 minutes. Now, I got a bit angry and told him basically that it would be completely unacceptable for it to take that long. He said there were only two drivers on for the night but I told him I didn't care and that someone needed to bring me my food as soon as possible. Usually, Sarpino's waits until they've gotten quite a few orders in and then sends them all out at once with a delivery person (probably to make it worth the driving as to not be going back and forth). I told the manager that no one else's orders mattered to me at the moment and that someone needed to deliver my food now, not in 45 minutes. Exactly 10 minutes later, my food arrived.
All in all, I have nothing negative to say about the management or Sarpino's as a whole. The manager was very nice and ensured that everything eventually got worked out. It's the employees they hire (who usually act very snotty and like they're too good for their job anyway) and their process when it comes to deliveries that I have a problem with. I was told that the Overland Park Sarpino's at least delivers orders quicker and has a LOT friendlier staff. I'll try that location in the future when, or IF, I ever order from them again.
*EDIT: Come to find out around 3 am, the first delivery driver went to the wrong hospital entrance from the one I specifically put on the order, someone from another department let her into the building, and she didn't know where to take the food so she left it at an un-manned information desk in the hospital. No one knew about it until hours later when...
Read more3rd Review 11/19/2020 Great! Everything was right this time & we super appreciated how prompt our service was! 2nd Review 07/04/2020 My last 2 orders prior we had missing random ingredients+extra purchased dipping sauces. I’m not one to get too upset about this&I don’t want to be annoying when people make human mistakes. I called after placing my an order via the app, called the location to let them know A) I’d like to add a cash to the tip in addition to the tip on our card, B) That my last orders each had mistakes & to please make sure that the cook added the extra toppings & removed other ingredients I had opted out of on the calzone. The pizza arrived but the driver didn’t knock on the door or stay to get the extra$ that we had told his coworker on the phone that we had for the driver as an extra tip for the holiday+ we know covid has been hard on people $ wise so we wanted to give the driver a 36% tip. When we got a text saying the pizza was outside & the driver was no where to be seen we immediately called so the driver could get the rest of the tip. He came back got the tip & right before he got back I began eating the pizza & noticed no pineapple, added chicken which I asked to make sure wasn’t in the calzone, & the sauce wasn’t right to top it off. So I called the location for the 3rd time to express that I was disappointed that the extra step of communication that I made to ensure I got the right order this time, wasn’t taken into account. I know they must be busy on this holiday& I genuinely understand that things can be missed when changes are made to a speciality calzone but I really really wanted that added pineapple, extra bacon, no chicken, well-done, & BBQ sauce w/no marinara. After all I made an extra call to make sure the online order was followed. The first person I spoke to after placing the order on the app read my order back to me & knew we wanted to make sure the driver got an extra tip for the holiday. The lack of communication between the employees is currently lacking. The manager, Jason, came to a resolution for me by refunding the calzone but reviews are important because they help corporate address issues like how to effectively communicate as a team in their staff. My review tonight is 3 stars, my first review was 5stars. I’d love to bring this back to a 5 Star next time but the order should be followed if customizations can be made. 1st Review 2019 Don Z & Kevin R(I am so tired I already forgot if this is the last initial! So sorry!) went out of their way to help us celebrate our friend’s birthday!!! Amazing customer service!!! It was almost 2am & they were both still cool & amazingly helpful!!! Thank you so so so so so much!!!!! It...
Read moreAfter having difficulties with Uber eats we called the restaurant to help with the order. While trying to place the order the lady interrupted to lecture how we should use door dash or the direct site to place an order so there wouldn't be any issues but claimed she was still taking our order exactly how we wanted it. Once it arrived both calzones were wrong. Instead of listening that we wanted a calzone with vegetarian sauce, vegan pepperoni and cheese she gave a completely vegetarian pizza with pepperoni on it 🙄 who tf wanted all of those vegetables? The other calzone was littered with bacon. No one said a damn thing about bacon and we don't eat pork! On top of that we ordered a garlic butter sauce for the side and a buffalo sauce, but I guess we weren't deserving of those either because they threw plain marinera in. If she didn't want to take the order correctly she should find a new job! At least my kid's pizza came out right but it was simple so I guess that was going to be a hard...
