Kevin's Cafe — Restaurant in Lebanon

I was hopeful as most small town cafe's seem to go the extra mile but, i was not impressed. I had the chicken strips and fries. Fries were very hot but tasted like cardboard. I assume they were reheated? I sat at the counter and watched the cook who, while competent, took lots of short cuts, (hash browns sitting in a pile staying warm but end up soggy and no more crispness, fries for the "to go" orders got no salt, omelets overcooked and instead of a gentle fold, cracked at the bend point and just smothered with the bisquit gravy to hide it...etc). This place serves food you might get if you were, say at a farm while feeding the ranch hands. Not "bad" per se just, not really up to standards for a business serving the public. Also, glad to hear how you respect your employees and glad you are blessed with wonderful people to work with. I used to own a mom and pop's in Gaston, "Cooper D's ~A FAMILY joint, so I fully understand. When I had my baby we threw up a sign "sorry closed, off to have our baby", Lol. Small towns usually know the people and understand. Restaurant business is hard WORK, but so much fun as well. We had a great crew as well. Nasty. My over priced food got brought home for my chickens. Service ok, not good but ok. Toast didn't come out until we were almost done eating. Toast was good but the potatoes were undercooked (yes, I even ordered crispy well done potatoes, how does that translate to under cooked?)Oh, and surprise ending, they dont take cards. We dont carry cash. No where in the entire place is that posted. Had it been on the door we'd have understood, gone somewhere else and maybe tried Kevin's another time.
