TLDR: I visited Mel's on Madison and was impressed by their great customer service and delicious food made in-house. The prices are a bit high, but it's worth it for the tasty meal and unique cheesecake flavors made by the owner's daughter. Highly recommend a visit for a fantastic dining experience. FULL: Mel's on Madison has been on my radar since its opening, and I finally had the opportunity to dine there recently. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the entire staff, and even the owner took the time to personally introduce himself and share information about his restaurant, including the fact that all dishes are made in-house with the exception of the toasted raviolis, which are sourced pre-made. We started with the toasted raviolis, which were not only delicious, but also served piping hot. For the main course, I opted for a medium rare 8oz tenderloin steak, accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a house salad(not pictured). The food arrived promptly, within 15 minutes, and did not disappoint. The steak was succulent and full of flavor, the garlic mashed potatoes were exceptional, the coleslaw was satisfactory, and the house salad, though small, was appropriately sized for a single serving. For dessert, the owner informed us that his daughter made a variety of cheesecakes, including blueberry and espresso. I chose the espresso cheesecake and was thoroughly impressed by its richness, creaminess, and sweetness. Although the prices at Mel's on Madison are on the higher side, the exceptional customer service and delicious food make it a worthwhile dining experience. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone seeking a delightful culinary experience.

We stopped in after the restaurant we had planned on going to was unexpectedly closed, just a few doors down. The building itself is intriguing so we stopped into Mel’s for a bite. The servers were so friendly, and although they were short staffed on a busy Saturday lunch, they greeted us and we had our drinks in no time. (And if you don’t have patience and understanding of what it’s like to be short staffed and busy at a restaurant, I suggest you put yourself in the workers positions before you even mutter a negative thought or review.) It took us a while to decide what to order because it all sounded good. We ordered Mel’s Mac appetizer with pulled pork, a cheddar bacon burger, and the Caesar salad wrap—we saw someone with it while walking in, and it looked very appetizing. None of the food was a disappointment! I wish I had thought to take photos before we ate several bites. The servers were very accommodating and provided me with extra pickles. That in itself merits automatic five stars. We live over an hour away, but we will return!

Had a nice lunch this afternoon at Mel's on Madison. Our server Ashley was exceptional. She was very personable and knowledgeable and answered our questions about the various sauces we might like to try. If you like horseradish, the homemade horseradish aioli was excellent and we will try the Tri Tip sandwich the next time we visit. Be sure to eat a slice of homemade cheesecake. The Butterfinger option was so delicious, we took Cookies and Cream and Strawberry Lemonade home with us. The cheesecakes change weekly so we must try them all!

This was our first time. Our food came out aprox. 5 min after we ordered it, wow I ordered the pork plate and my husband ordered the pork nachos, they were both cold, our sweet waitress apologized and took it back it took about 3 min to get our food back and it was warmer thanks for the almighty microwave! I asked for the sweet BBQ sauce and was informed that all the bottles with sweet were being used and I would have to wait until another table was finished with it. WHAT!!! THERE WERE ONLY THREE OTHER GROUPS THERE!!! THE PLACE WASNT HALF FULL!!! so I asked if they could put it in something else and warm it up, the poor waitress came back with a small metal container of BBQ sause and she couldn't warm it. I asked to talk to the manager, the owner came out and tried to blame it all on the waitress I told her it wasn't the waitresses fault, that I was surprised there were only 3 or 4 bottles of BBQ sause and that the food was cold. The owner said the waitress stood in the back for 10 min. Talking that was why our food was cold. Sorry our food didn't even take that long to come out. Instead of taking any responsibility for what happened she informed us she was firing her that night. WHY? I again told her it wasn't the waitress fault. When our bill came i noticed my meal wasn't on it so I asked our waitress why, she stated that she paid for it bec. It was bad. I told her it was by no means her fault and that I made that very clear to the owner. The young waitress still in school stated that she was being fired at the end of her shift! I was angry. We gave her a big tip and told her it was not her fault! So to the owner I say TAKE RESPONSIBILITY !!!! AND BY THE WAY WE WILL...
