First time patrons of this pizzeria.
Here's what went right...
The taste of the Sicilian pizza was good.
The time between the order being placed and picking it up was good.
The staff inside the restaurant were friendly.
Here's what we wished had gone better....
The person that took the call in order, was polite, but did struggle a bit with English and the conversation became circular with repetition.
The base price of the Sicilian is $19.99...then each topping is $1.99 EACH. We were prepared to pay the price and the requested toppings were: pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and extra cheese...yep...$28 for 1 pizza---{choices were made.} At that price point we felt the toppings should have been a bit more generous. 《Photo for reference》The taste was good...but $28 good...???...and the primary pizza eater was born in NY...so if ya know...ya know.
The LARGE garden salad for $9.99 was a swing and a miss! 《Photos for reference》 Most of the lettuce was comprised of the rib section of romaine. The photo shows the pale leaf color and the brown discoloration present on the majority of the ribs. The tomatoes were pale pink and mealy in mouth feel. The cucumber and green pepper pieces retained no crunch, due most likely from being cut and stored too long in cold storage, thus robbing them of any substance of crispness.
One of the salad photos represents what was left as edible lettuce for a LARGE salad.
Before the tired and oft used "supply issue" is tabled, recognize that decisions were made by the restaurant to put out sub par food items at a premium price. Switch to cherry tomatoes and ditch the hard yet mealy hot house tomatoes. Our salad had 5 cucumber slices...5...they certainly should have been fresher. Serve to your paying patrons what you would serve to YOUR LOVED ONES...I challenge that browned rib pieces of lettuce would fail to be the choice for grandma's meal.
When a patron is paying $28 for a pizza...《again,decisions were made and follow-up conversations were had amongst those in our home responsible for this order》there is a reasonable expectation of end product matching the purchase price. Seemingly, we paid ALOT of money for thick dough and average coverage of toppings.
Lesson learned. This pizzeria--for us--will be a distant option...
Read moreThe TL/DR: Delivery is contracted and they just threw the pizza on the stoop and never rang the doorbell; The business didn't care when I called.
This place uses "Slice" to handle their deliveries; they do NOT deliver their own food. My order was scheduled to be delivered at 7:30PM as confirmed by the online order and I graciously tipped the top tier 25%. HUGE MISTAKE! The delivery driver apparently came early and just set the pizza on the stoop and never rang the doorbell and drove away. How do I know? I checked the camera footage. Fast forward about an hour and I'm about to call to find out where my food is, when my wife comes inside and says "There's a pizza on the stoop!" By now it's cold, wet, and gross. It's garbage actually. I called the restaurant and was told, "Oh that's Slice. Call them." So I did. Slice said, "Sorry about that, here's a 5% refund for your trouble." Seriously?!!! So I call the restaurant again since ultimately the buck stops with them and this time the guy on the phone gives me the number of the supervisor, who isn't there btw. So I call THAT number. He tells me "Well, 90% of the time customers get mad if we ring the doorbell so we don't do that." You read that right people. They will NOT let you know that they delivered your pizza. They are just going to drop it on your step. By the way, that's not true because they have delivered here before and actually rang the door bell. Nonsense answer from a "supervisor" that was upset that I called him. He finally told me, "I can't refund you but I can make you a new pizza. You'll have to come pick it up though!" I have company at my house! That's the whole reason I paid the delivery fee AND tipped 25%!!!! What's wrong with this restaurant?!! THEN he tells me, "Since you don't like that option, I'll have the manager call you." Well, it's the next day now! NO CALL FROM THE MANAGER! $60 worth of cold, wet, abandoned pizza and the restaurant makes me feel like I'M bothering THEM! Avoid this place if you're in Leesburg! Papa Johns would have been better than this miserable excuse for...
