I have taken my dog Zeus there almost every day for coming on 5 years. I recommend it to everyone I meet -that has a dog.
When I first moved here and didn't know anyone the "9am group" became my friends and local guides. It didn't matter our backgrounds. We all had dogs that needed to run. They became a pack, all while new dogs joined and other left.
You have to be respectful to the other owner, the park and to the dogs and then it is all fun. Even if you are on your cell, or talking with people you just met, keep and eye for when your pup goes poop. They have recycled bags and cans right here.
The dogs in the evening do tend to be more high spirited because owners were at work all day. If you or your dog are timid, earlier is better. Same with weekends.
I have only met one dog whose owner was asked not to come back with him. Every once in a while dogs need to be separated. Use common sense and all is good. Leave if there is a problem but be sure to come another time. They are dogs. I usually find that the dogs work it out but it is the owner that is worried for them. Don't be. They know the rules and will figure it out on their own.
Don't bring food or treats, and kids under 8 can not go in. It is for their safety. When the more muscular dogs start chasing and playing they come fast and can take your feet out from under.
There is water and a hose. Lots of shade and even a pond with a walking path for after they blow off steam
Please come. The dog park in Leesburg is the great ethnic equalizer. So long as you come with a dog ready to have fun. Cultural and pup diversity is alive and well.
Almost forgot, there is now a fenced area for small dogs.
Come have fun! My dog is Zeus. Husky German...

Pros: The dog park is very large, so it could host many dogs. There are trees surrounding the fenced in area, so there are shaded areas for sunny days. There are a few picnic tables and places for dog owners to sit. There is a water faucet, communal water bowls and dog bath available. There is a smaller separate section for small dogs weighing 25 pounds and under. There are plenty of dog waste stations (poop bags and trash cans).
Cons: The dog park does not have grass, but it has small sticks and wood chips covering the area. This dog park does not have agility equipment. For the size of the park, there could be more seating areas...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is a great dog park better than the one located next to One Loudoun. They have doggy bags and water for your furbabies. There is plenty of room for the dogs to run as it is one big open field and few picnic tables for people to sit on.However, the picnic tables are not that clean I typically bring something to sit on or I wipe it off with Clorox. It does get super muddy after it rains. I haven't seen any major altercations between the dogs. My pet peeve are the dog owners. Some dog owners are too busy chatting, on their phones or just looking opposite directions from their dog and miss picking up the dog poo. There has been a lot of dog poo recently and the mulch needs to be...
