Wendy's — Restaurant in Leitchfield

Work trip, travel day, drive thru visit for lunch. I got some breaded chicken sandwich with pickles, onion straws and bacon on a pretzel bun. Also got chicken straws, large fries and a #1 double burger combo. The food was okay, nothing wrong with it, just nothing to write home about. My sandwich was bland, which struck me as odd for all the things that were on it. I definitely think it needed more pickles, the pickles seem to bring out the other different flavors, but bites without pickle we're definitely not good and not something I would order again. The pretzel bun was chewy, and it tasted maybe old? I don't know what it was, but something was just off. The fries were really good, they were fresh and perfectly crispy, although we were given no ketchup so we just had to eat them dry. The rest of the food wasn't mine, but I didn't hear any complaints. It's not something that I had been craving like I said, there wasn't anything really wrong with anything, it just wasn't anything noteworthy either. The employees did seem disinterested and gave the impression we were bothering them. When we asked for ketchup when we were given the bag of food, we were assured that they were in the bag with the napkins and straws, so it was only after we drove away that we realized we did not have ketchup or napkins. The last 2 times I've been here, it's been a 30 minute wait for a very small order. To be fair, it's not just me waiting, it's everyone who orders. The lobby was full of disgusted patrons. You could tell some of the customers were on their lunch break and probably wouldn't have time to eat after the wait. The staff is extremely slow. The people I've encountered taking orders and filling drinks seem overwhelmed and confused. They're mixing up people's drinks and sometimes were just making the wrong drinks. The machine for customers to fill their own drinks doesn't work and hasn't been for some time. I ordered a frosty one day... 27 minutes before I got it. The second (and last) time, I ordered a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger without a bun and extra lettuce, as I'm celiac and can't have the bread, and a medium frosty. I waited 25 minutes and what I received was a patty, a piece of bacon and 2 small skinny pieces of lettuce. No tomato, no mayo. I wasn't going to even say anything to have to wait another 20 minutes for them to fix it. The staff I spoke with was friendly and apologetic...

After long day and we'd skipped lunch, a fresh salad sounded so good. With nothing but quick food, drive thru prefered, my sister suggested Wendy's. I haven't been to one in years. We had a small wait since the salads were made fresh including fresh grilled chicken. I had the Avacado South Western and she the Apple Pecan. We both said "mine's the best". There were several other choices that I'm looking forward to trying when I return home to California. I had been so hungry I also ordered the small chili. It's been refrigerated for tomorrow. The salad was so filling there wasn't room for even a spoonful of the chili.
