Visiting from nearby Lexington, KY for the 4th at Rough River Dam Resort and wanted to try this nicely appointed sushi/hibachi restaurant in Leitchfield, KY.
For appetizers, we ordered Lobster Rangoons, they came in an order of 6. My wife and I both tried them. They were overcooked (hard and crunchy with burnt ends) and tasteless. The plum sauce provided could not redeem them. We set them aside and proceeded to order main courses.
My wife ordered spicy tuna rolls and I ordered shimp and scallop hibachi with siracha and fried rice. This came with a nicely made fresh side salad and miso soup.
My wife enjoyed the miso and said it was quite flavorful. It had scallions and tofu.
The salad was a surprise in that it was nicely/thinly chopped and they provided the ginger dressing to apply as sparing or as liberally as you'd like.
The spicy tuna rolls were well made, of firm consistency with panko and siracha in the middle of the rolls.
My hibachi meal was spot on with nice sized seared shimp and scallops and vegetables. The spice was decent, a little more of black pepper and less siracha than I expected but still enjoyable. The fried rice was also good, not too laden with oil.
Most of all, our server, Mallory, was a complete sweet heart and made us feel very welcome . When I told her we didn't love the "lobster rangoon" of which 4 of 6 remained and I showed her why, she tried to get her boss to make it right.
With all of the good here the rating would have been a solid 4 stars out of 5 but for the management. You can't serve over-cooked unedible food to your patrons, even a little and expect them to be okay with paying for it. Next time make it right. Not all people want something for nothing, especially when they left you the evidence of what wasn't right on the plate.
I hope the $4.49 was worth bringing this type of attention to your establishment. We will be back to RRD. We...
Read moreThe young woman, I have no idea her name as the whole team was not wearing name tags, at the front counter putting orders together was extremely rude. It was impossible to get acknowledged by anyone working there unless you just stood at the counter blocking any other customers from stepping up. I placed an online order at 6:15, showed up to the restaurant around 6:35, was rudely instructed to "have a seat in that chair over there," and waited until 7:10 before stepping up to counter to inquire about the order only to stand there for 10 more minutes before being acknowledged. Food had been sitting on the counter which doesn't look temperature controlled for at least 10 minutes before I walked back up to the counter. I watched her pick the food up, that by the time I finally received the order had been sitting for over 20 minutes, bag it, ask for my name and handed me the bag. She did not apologize for the wait or even acknowledge that I had been siiting in front of her for the last 40 minutes. She just seemed annoyed that I had bothered to order there. I will not be ordering here again. The food was cold by the time I got it home to my husband and son. So, the staff was horribly rude, food was not that great, it was over-priced for the quality, and the food was cold. Not worth the time...
Read moreTo start off we love hibatchi and frequent 4 different places and have eaten 9 different hibatchi restaurants total. So I feel I know what good hibatchi is and isnt.
Service was excellent and the place was decently nice though a little dirty.
Salad tastes weird. Old salad that got slimey and then just washed off instead of thrown away? The steak I got also tasted kind of bad. Like it was going bad but they said ehhh one more day will probably be okay. Also the meat was colder than the rice and veggies like they precooked it and then heat it up. The soup tastes like water with soy added and some green onion thrown I'm for show. The rice and veggies tasted okay but not seasoned well, so they weren't enjoyable to eat.
My daughter had the chicken and my son the shrimp I tried them and they tasted safe to eat.
We tried the valentine roll and it was enjoyable and fresh.
I spent 120 dollars and I really feel like most of it was a waste. Excluding the tip and the 15 dollars for the sushi.
Don't roll the dice on this place. Better off going to mcdonalds at least then if they mess it up or its bad or old you're only out a...
