Shirley's Diner — Restaurant in Leland

My fiance and I decided to visit Shirley's this evening. One waitress took our drink order then kept yelling across the restaurant to the other waitress that it was her table. We placed our order and received some fried okra to snack on while waiting since my husband had ordered the chicken and knew it would take a little longer. While munching on the okra, the two waitresses conversed across the restaurant about customers that had just left not leaving a tip, how they could not make rent on time and not understanding why they didn't have money. These two also discussed what cleaning they had to do because it was near closing. One waitress started going to other tables to ask if they wanted tea to go because they were just going to throw it away. At this time, I told my fiance if she comes over and ask if I want a tea to go, I will surely tell her I'm not going anywhere. We then overheard the waitresses discussing that orders that took longer should not even be put in at this time, how long it would take for our order and that they had to clean so they could close. One waitress mentioned she was going to go empty the restroom trash. I watched her walk into the restroom, gather the trash, walk back to the front, had another customer a to go box and NEVER stopped to wash her hands. After listening to this go on and watch the unsanitary actions of the two waitresses, I walked to the register and told our waitress that I would pay for our drinks and the okra but I refused to sit there any longer and listen to them b** and complain. An older gentleman in the back spoke up and after hearing what I had to say, told me that I did not have to pay for anything. We walked out and will not be returning. I have worked in restaurants and many other customer service positions and this has to be the poorest excuse for customer service I have ever seen. I have enjoyed Shirley's in the past. The last 2 times the food quality has slipped. Shrimp my wife ordered came out not golden but almost flour colored and not bonded breading to the shrimp. At the end of our meal time the table beside us got served Golden busted shrimp like hers should of been so we grabbed the waitress and showed her and asked her to bring my iced tea I had ordered to go as we both were done with our meals. She took my wife's plate back to the own5 and he said nothing. Her plate was almost untouched on the shrimp portion.

I had ordered the big burger plate. In the last 2 times I've noticed hardly any fries served with the meal. It was worse this time less fries. I mean really? A hint of fries? Geeze come on.

Now my burger, over the past years of having this burger, they had been delicious and tasty. This time however it was not the same, there was so much filler in the burger it didn't brown well and there was NO FLAVOR of beef. Just Terrible. If things are that bad just close the doors or raise your QUALITY!

Unfortunately I will never find out as you have lost our Patronage.

I'm only giving this place one star because I don't have any choice. The waitress took our order and brought us drinks in a timely manner. Our order came out and went to the wrong table. The waitress never came over to speak to us about the that issue. Finally our food arrived. We asked her about the mix up and she did not come right out and acknowledge their mistake. She gave us our food and didnt came back to the table until my friend was done. I showed her my shrimp, which wasn't cleaned, and she said "that's how it comes". I might have eaten 3 shrimp. I let them know that I wasn't going to pay. The owner got very nasty with me. He proceeded to talk angrily to me in a raised voice. I pointed out that the waitress never came back to check on us and I was very disappointed with my meal. He again began to raise his voice.
