African Dream Cuisine — Restaurant in Lenexa

Stella and her Husband Neba are so sweet and kind people. Was so happy to hear that they are originally from Cameroon 🇨🇲 support African food in the USA. I ordered the a chicken meal which comes with 3 sides, rice which has peas and carrots in it, a veggie Melody of cabbage and other things (so delicious), and potatoes. You get a choice between 2 sauces a peanut sauce or another sauce which is bell peppers blended up in a blender to make a sauce out of it. I got both to try. Peanut sauce on my potatoes and the other sauce was poured on the chicken and rice. This food was so delicious, so healthy and so nice and refreshing. I ate the whole meal and even though I was full/satisfied afterwards. I wasn't left feeling like the meal was heavy on me and in a food comma. I am so glad I tried them today. I've seen them in the Lenexa City Market for many years and never tried them. Wish I would have tried them sooner. The food definitely one of the best meals I've had in years. It wasn't spicy which I liked because I'm not into major spicy things. The sauce they use is naturally flavorful enough that it gives you so much natural flavor that you don't need all the spices. The chicken was very juicy and tender. So, glad I decided to try something new today. I would definitely go back to eat their food again. This is something you could eat everyday. If you haven't tried their food yet definitely give them a try you won't reqreat. Great quality food....

The stewed chicken was absolutely succulent and so flavorful. It has an amazing home cooked nostalgic feel. I had it with the cabbage and plantains. I could eat that cabbage everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. It's so well spiced and had that wonderful slow cooked flavor. The plantains were perfectly sweet and soft. You gotta get the spicy sauce. It really brings the flavors to life in a new way. I accidentally dropped one of my little cups of spicy sauce and felt like I lost a part of my soul. I will get it back again next time. No photos because it was gone too quickly...

Not sure why all the reviews are for Independence but I went to the Lenexa location and the portion for the egusi was very small and the chicken was tender and juicy but lacked flavor. The side of cabbage is actually not included and is an additional $6 😳 for my self at lunch time I spent a little over $20 and did not purchase a drink. I wish the egusi had a little spice to it. ☹️ I was craving egusi but was a little disappointed. I still had the craving upon leaving. I thought egusi was a dinner portion only. Not sure why I got what I got. Not sure why I can't add the picture to...
