At this point I would consider us regulars. We come here almost every week if not every other week. We are also very good tippers. The older lady, I believe her name is Kristi, is not attentive to our needs and is not enthusiastic about serving us. And it wasnât the first time we had her as a server. Every time she comes by the table sheâll ask us if weâre okay while immediately walking away before we could even answer her. She forgot a water I requested too, just to bring it after I was done with my meal, which makes it completely useless to have. She also forgot about the one extra thing I ordered with my meal just to charge me with it and then try to explain her way out of it. I didnât ask for it either because like I said, every time she did come to âserve us,â she would walk away immediately before we could respond to her. I work in the food service industry as well at a much higher franchise, so I know what itâs like to be busy and forget items. But the fact that they were not busy, most likely in the kitchen but in the dining room there were 4 other customers total including us, she couldâve been a lot more hospitable. The service she gave us compared to the white customers they had that morning is crazy different. At the end while paying out, I told her I was charged with this extra item which she had no problem taking off. My partner was in the bathroom and he didnât know she had taken it off and I didnât tell him either since I was the one paying for the meal. While she was saying âsorry about the extra French toast,â he had asked her about the extra French toast. Which she responded âI guess you just didnât listen to me, it just went right over your head.â Although I do agree with her about that he shouldâve been listening, to respond like that to customers youâre dependent on with paying YOUR bills, is beyond disrespectful. This is your time and tip money affected. Please be nicer and more hospitable to your non-white customers Kristi. The Hispanic servers are much more friendly and enthusiastic about serving us every time we go there :) Service is a CRUCIAL part of the restaurant dining experience, and because of Kristi, our experience here was quite literally ruined and makes it hard for us to go back since we love the other servers and the food there. If your service is biased to certain groups of people then you shouldnât be working in...
Read moreMy experience seems to be outside the norm for the reviews of this place, but this was undoubtedly one of the top three worst dining experiences of my life. I've been wanting to try Pegah's for a while, so I took my 4 year-old daughter for what I expected to be a nice dinner this evening. I ordered the meatloaf at the waitress's recommendation (over the chicken fried steak). When it came out I could tell right away there was a problem. It was clearly burned and was covered in a thick, oily gravy that I now believe was there to help cover up the texture and flavor. I bravely forged ahead, however, and tried a tentative bite. I was overwhelmed at how exceptionally bad it was - burned, dry, lukewarm and with an overpowering flavor of some unidentifiable herb. I was done with it after that bite. The remaining 95% went uneaten. My mashed potatoes were covered in the same oily gravy, but were salvageable. The mac and cheese was decent. I finished the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese since there was no way I was taking another bite of the "meatloaf". I didn't say anything to the waitress to see if she would address the elephant in the room: my virtually untouched main course. She did not. Instead, she asked if I wanted a box for it. I said no - another opportunity to address the issue. It again went unanswered. My daughter seemed to like her spaghetti. When we got our bill I noticed the waitress had not applied my $3 off coupon. I wasn't about to argue about it as I just wanted out as quickly as possible, not the least of which reason being that my stomach was starting to get very upset. I paid and left. My stomach has been angry all night and I feel like there is a very unpleasant bathroom experience in the near future. This was my first and undoubtedly last...
Read moreI absolutely love Pegah's and have been eating there since they only had the one. It's some of the best home cooking and comfort food you can find anywhere and the catfish is to die for. It's very thick cuts of fish and cooked to perfection. I will say we are regulars there and normally get our order to go from the Pegah's in Lenexa and one time we were on the way to pick up an order and a small dog ran out in front of us and we had to stop suddenly to keep from hitting the dog and messed our vehicle brakes all up and had to get a tow which required me to have to call and cancel the order and the manager gave me a hard time on the phone when I called to place an order after that as if we did this often. As I said we have been regulars there for a very long time. So I explained to her that I was on the phone with her worker when the accident occurred and they even heard it so she proceeded to allow me to place the order to go. I was quite upset because I was treated like I was lieing. So when I picked the order up I showed the manager just how frequently we order from their establishment and I also showed her where my truck had to be repaired and how we had orders to go since then and FINALLY she apologized and seemed to be sincere. I would have given 5 stars but for that incident and I had to show her in my bank account just the repairs for the vehicle and how often we ordered from Pegah's and had even since the incident then and was confused by her not wanting to allow us to or giving us a hard time. I would absolutely refer friends and family there and have simply because she did apologize and as I said it seemed sincere. It really is some of the best food...
