I went to Mai Tai for the first time with my Aunt and daughter. First entering the decorate was overall nice. We were seated right away. Offered a high chair for my daughter. We ordered with no issues. The waitress first brought out my Auntās soup and it had the consistency of syrup. She took one bite and instantly didnāt like it. When the waitress returned to ask how the soup was my aunt very respectfully said she could take the soup back she didnāt like it. The waitress immediately says āall our food is good so Iām surprised your saying that. But okayā¦ā walks away with the soup. Then she returns a little while after that interaction with our food. My aunt ordered sushi and I ordered sushi and rice noodle with vegetables. My sushi was okay, nothing memorable. The rice noodles tasted like chicken fried rice. Just having that kind of taste told me they were cook there food is the same pots without cleaning them from the meal prior they cooked. There were so many onions. I didnāt even eat half my noodles. There was a very nice couple sitting behind us. They expressed to the waitress that there food was cold, under cooked and didnāt taste right. She was immediately sympathetic. Responds with Iām going to tell my manager right away. Completely different reaction then how she treated us. Manager comes over apologizes tells them he will cover there bill for them. Asked them to please return and try the sushi bar next time. The couple leaves. Mind you we had the same waitress. I asked her to please give us our check. She just puts it on the table doesnāt say anything else. We pay and the manager comes over asking how our food was. I say it was alright and my aunt as well as we are gathering our things. He goes āI was expecting a little more than just thatā. Iām like okay āyour sushi was okay not memorable and your noodles taste wrong. My aunt didnāt like her soup. It looked like syrupā. He then responds with āwell Iām going to have to try this food out cause this is the first Iām hearing of this.ā And he walks away. So there interaction with us verses the nice couple was completely different that it made us wonder was this a racial thing. We ate probably just as much of our food as they did and it was night and day in treatment. I will never return back to this restaurant and I will be telling others about...
Read moreNot only extremely disappointing, it was quite possibly the worst meal my family has had all year. We were super excited to try Mai Tai's and chose this as our family's Christmas get together meal. The menu was very limited for Chinese, we were there on a weekend, and there were no combination plates, no children's menu available. We ordered chicken teriyaki, chicken fingers, egg rolls and with this we ordered pork fried rice. Also ordered General Tso tofu which came with broccoli, additionally ordered a side of white rice, and broccoli. Also, ordered shrimp with lobster sauce and brown rice. I specifically asked if the rice came with the shrimp with lobster sauce and was not told anything to the contrary, I also asked twice if it was brown rice and was assured it was. Well, first of all, it was not brown rice. It was white rice that had been browned and second of all it was not included with the shrimp and lobster sauce entrée. The server brought out and plopped half of our order down. The tofu/broccoli, white rice, egg rolls, chicken fingers, chicken teriyaki were served but without the pork fried rice, yet she delivered the "brown" rice. We were confused about the rice since the shrimp and lobster sauce had the brown rice, and had not been delivered. The server finally returned with the rest of our order when I proceeded to ask about the rice, the server got very indignant telling me I should have known it was brown rice since it was placed in front of me! Well, I didn't know, my meal had yet to be served and all of the other meals were served so I assumed the rice went with their meals. Not sure why the place is getting some rave reviews because even our food was just okay. Nothing special and after spending close to $100.00 it was actually quite disappointing. And while the server did ask if everything was okay, I really felt at that point it was senseless to say anymore. But when more than half of the entrée's remained untouched, I would have thought the server may have figured out we were not satisfied!!! We will not be back, especially spending the amount of money we spent and the gentleman at that cash register not once asked about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I had a disappointing dining experience this evening. I ordered a beef dish and my husband opted for sushi. My meal was served first and the waiter informed us that the sushi would arrive shortly. Although I typically wait for my companion's food, my husband encouraged me to start eating. I did so, sharing an egg roll with him while he waited. However, I finished my meal and his sushi still had not arrived. The waiter eventually returned and stated that the sushi was still in preparation. My husband requested that it be prepared to go, as I had already finished eating. The waiter returned ten minutes later with the sushi and my husband again requested that it be prepared to go. Upon arriving home, we discovered that the restaurant had carelessly placed the sushi in containers without offering an apology or discount. This level of service is unacceptable and we will not be returning to this restaurant. We would advise others to avoid this establishment as well. Unfortunately, I can't upload the pictures of the containers, but they were obviously "dumped" into the containers without care. Extremely disappointing after what we just went through - clearly they don't care about...
