Stop by this place after a volleyball tournament. There were only a few tables being used when we arrived, so we were able to get taken care of very quickly. Our waiter was nice and made sure that we were taken care of. He answered our every question and accommodated us on variations to the menu. The table started out with chips and salsa, that included ritz salsa and a bean salsa. For the appetizer we had the combination of fish and shrimp ceviche. Ceviche was phenomenal. That was the best we've had in probably 5 years since our favorite restaurant shut down in Dallas. I've had a couple of other versions but have been severely disappointed. The kids even enjoyed it as well. That was before we told him what it actually was. Lol. My wife the Chipotle shrimp, that came with mashed potatoes and hey vegetable medley. I had the Diabla shrimp, and chose to get mashed potatoes over rice, along with the vegetable medley as well. My son had the burger and fries, and my daughter had a taco salad. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything. If I could give the vegetable medley 10 stars, I would. Everyone got to try everyone else's food and enjoyed it as well. My biggest surprise was that my son was actually considering trying the Chipotle shrimp instead of a burger, which he usually gets at a Mexican restaurant. We only came to this restaurant because they had a burger on the menu. He only gets meat and cheese. We had to show my daughter how to eat authentic taco salad. It came with a tortilla bowl. She was blown away at the quality and the taste of the salad. She devoured the entire thing and it was a large portion. Our waiter told us that we could actually purchase these taco shells from the restaurant, by calling in, in advance. We have not been able to find them since we left Chicago. On the way out we had to get something to go, because there were more items that we wanted to try. We got the queso fundido, queso dip, and a scoop of blackberry ice cream. We have not had blackberry ice cream in forever. It's awesome. My daughter loved her first taste of it. The only reason they get a four is because they were out of the wings my son wanted to try. Everything else we had...
Read moreMy Stepmom & I met here for a VERY early dinner last Saturday evening. She had a swirl working when I arrived and she said it was yummy. I was in the mood for a beer, so I asked for my fave - Pacifico, which not everyone carries, but they had it! All staff that I viewed on the floor wore masks. I loved the design of the place, with the bar front & center, separated by a half-opaque short wall. The only negative to that is if there's a loud party at the bar & you're there with your family trying to enjoy a nice meal, it might not be so cool. Anyway, back to our table - my Stepmom asked for tableside guac and I chimed in - no onions! The young man was good - he asked if we still wanted the tomato and cilantro, which most places forget to ask about. It was perfect, salted just right, lime was perfect as well. A good portion too! Mom ordered us some calamari next. I loved the presentation & that the garnishes were mostly edible, instead of just being garnish. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Neither of us were real hungry after chips, guac & the calamari, so we split an order of sopes. OMGee, they were so good and very fresh! So good - I just say - look at my photo, yummy! The chips were great & she loved the sauces. I wasn't thrilled with them but they were okay. She especially liked the beans, I think they were boracho beans. The cups were pretty small, hard to tell. Our server was a petite young lady, full of smiles and attentive. I drove a bit to meet her here, I think I'll pay another visit!! Wish they had a patio,...
Read moreWe were happy to find a good, authentic, locally owned Mexican restaurant the food is consistently good and the margaritas are great. However, on our last visit, we realized customer service means nothing to them. We cane across a "buy one entree, get one half off" coupon in a local mailer, so we decided to stop in for lunch while running errands on a Saturday. When our waiter csme to get our drink order, I showed him the coupon and he said it was good, but to give it to him when we paid for our meal. When he brought our check, my husband gave him the coupon and a credit card. The waiter cane back saying the coupon wasn't good on Saturday. I pointed out The coupon clearly stated it wasn't valid on Friday, not Saturday. He said he had been told not to accept it, at which point I asked to speak to a manager. Instead, a waitress came and rudely told us the coupon wasn't good on the weekend. I asked why when it clearly said it wasn't good on Friday. She said that meant it wasn't good all weekend. Again, I asked to speak to the manager and was told he wasn't there and they didn't know when he would be back and she was in charge. With nothing left to do, we paid the full price check. While we have been to Chante several times in the last few months, but we won't be back. I'm all for supporting small restuarants, but not when they are deceitful and refuse to honor ...
