Review from my visit on July 17: "If I had to sum it up in one line: to the graceful lady who used to run this place — I just want to say, the kids are running it into the ground.
We visited on a weekday and were the only ones there. I ordered my usual favorites: Aloo Paratha, Paneer Paratha, Gobi Paratha, and a few extras.
The experience? Let’s just say… nostalgic in the worst way. The water smelled oddly like meat (not what you want with your vegetarian meal), the little bowls of curd that used to come with the parathas had vanished, and for three plates, we got just one bowl of curd. Generosity seems to now be limited to the pickle tray, which we didn’t touch. And as for butter — three tiny cubes for three plates. I guess it’s officially one cube per customer now.
The real heartbreak, though, was the taste. The Paneer and Gobi Parathas were borderline inedible — overloaded with red chili, turmeric, and salt. We actually had to send them back, which I never do. I played it safe and swapped them for another Aloo Paratha, which was at least edible.
If you’re messing up the parathas, I’m not sure you can still call yourself Punjabi Chaska.
Giving 2 stars, mostly because the younger folks running the place were still polite — but the food? Big downgrade.
Original review from my first visit: "The food was great, Service was quick (despite the fact that they were preparing for a big catering order) and the host was a very sweet and well-spoken friendly person. We are glad to have discovered this place and would love to go...
Read moreOMG- I can’t believe This..I found perfect Punjabi restaurant.. what an amazing experience .. Let me start with food … top quality Punjabi kadhi with hot steam Rice .. we ordered one and then repeated twice .. second .. Great fresh Sarso ka saag and fresh Makke ki roti.. you can ask them to make little crispy as we like crispy and not think one .. but those were real fresh ones .. now third is parathas .. good paraathas and hot served with real butter .. achar was so tasty .. and then finally the salted lassi .. that was good too
Now the service - Amazing personalized attention .. Pinka who is managing this was personally making sure we get hot food . .. service was too good .. may be we were only one and it is small place but we enjoyed her hospitality and such a personal touch as of I was eating home from my Mom ..
Pricing is reasonable ..
My next try will be chole , Paneer to taste them and also involve them on one of the live counter .. let’s see .....
Read moreI love this cozy, dhaba-like, CLEAN place. I don't go to a lot of Indian restaurants and this by far I love. What I liked about it is 1. The cleanliness this is SO important for me. Even if the food tastes bad, I don't care but it has to be a clean place. And this is a check ✅️ The food taste is great. It's very home style and the quantity is standard and good. Staff are friendly! For the FIRST time in an Indian restaurant I experienced chatting with the staff, who I believe is the owner. She was sweet and checked in on us. Which NEVER happens in an Indian restaurant. The smell of the restaurant was so cozy and smelled like makhan. At least that's what I smelled. I'd rather smell this than the heavy onion and garlic over processed curry/masala that is so potent and just gets in all your clothes.
This is my 2nd visit and won't be the last. I highly recommend you...
