I have been eating at Blue Ocean for about 6-7 years! The place used to be a little "hole in the wall" and not many people knew about it. The owners were super friendly and used to sit down at our table and visit and we always received the best service and the sushi has always been great. Then, I think about 2 years ago they remodeled and that seemed to really draw in lots of new customers. The service went WAY downhill at that point. Kimberly, the owner's wife, is probably one of the worst servers there. As soon as they started getting more business their customers really weren't important and treated like people anymore. Sadly, my husband and I started looking for other places to enjoy sushi at around that time because sacrificing good service is not worth spending good money to eat there. We decided to continue eating there, ONLY because one of our regular servers, Johnny, promised that he would make sure we received the best service possible. The only time we eat there now is if we know he's working. He's the best server they have and he will remember your drink orders and what you prefer to order there. Between the amazing sushi and Johnny, they are the only reasons we still eat there. I even went as far as to send a letter to the owners expressing to them how the service has lacked there and that they really should remember where they came from. They didn't grow into the business they are without their customers and they should definitely keep that in mind. With that being said, if you eat here ask for Johnny!
We will and have continued to eat here because the food is...

I placed a large order over the phone for pickup which included appetizers, sushi, sashimi and a variety of rolls. They were quick to complete my order and made sure that everything was included and correct.
The spring rolls were great - some of the best we've gotten in the area - and the shumai was pan fried perfectly. The sushi - salmon roe, masago, toro & unagi - was nicely formed and sized with soft rice and very fresh seafood.
The sashimi was super fresh - I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi because it was fantastic. The albacore, salmon and squid were all delicious as well.
We ordered 2 spicy rolls - the 911 and the Desperado roll. I don't eat the spicy ones but my family that does said that these were their new favorite rolls. Even though they were really spicy they were also very tasty - they weren't so spicy that you couldn't taste the fish.
We also got the Best One Ever roll which was also super fresh and well balanced.
Finally, we ordered what I thought was a roll but it ended up being more like a carpaccio - which was actually a nice surprise. It was the "O" So Good - Salmon, Ahi and Yellowtail topped with avocado and dressed with a spicy truffle vinaigrette - and it lived up to its name. Fresh, light and delicious the fish just melts...
Read moreI went to the Lewisville TX location and ordered 2 of the most expensive dinners on the menu. I ordered the sashimi dinner. If your fish is fresh it’s hard to screw up. It was good. The portions were decent. I also order the tiger prawns dinner. Look up tiger prawns on YouTube. They are Huge. They are a fast growing invasive species. What I got in this meal couldn’t even be classified as jumbo shrimp. They were medium sized shrimp. Possibly large shrimp if you mix in some deceiving marketing, but certainly not as large as jumbo shrimp and certainly not tiger prawns unless they pillaged the tiger prawn nursery and took all the babies. I have to give credit for the fact that they at least gave a decent amount of these medium sized shrimp, but it wasn’t what I expected when I ordered that’s for sure. Just call it shrimp and your customers won’t be disappointed. My wife got a stir fry that you could get much cheaper from Chinese takeout. I also got a very weak Bloody Mary. Paled in comparison to those that are served at Another Broken Egg. Altogether spent $100 on a meal that should have been $50....
