Updated 2/10/19 What the heck has happened to Ham and Eggs? Granted it's been quite some time since we visited, but all I can say is YIKES! The menu is a fraction of what it used to be. While we were told we could order off the old menu if we remembered it, the drastic change was concerning. Then we started to wonder...where is everyone? In the past, a Sunday at Ham and Eggs meant every table crowded with a wait. 8:30am and we were the only table in the entire restaurant. Despite the red flags, we went ahead and ordered our previous favorites - sausage and cheese omelettes with hash browns. I always choose the massive pancake and my husband has always been a fan of the biscuit and sausage gravy. My pancake (partially burnt) arrived several minutes before the rest of the food. Other than the timing, can't complain too much about the food overall. Hash browns and omelettes were undercooked, but tasted "normal". It was as we were eating that we noticed some truly disturbing issues. As my husband drank his coffee (black with nothing added), he started to notice weird stains on the inside of the coffee cup. Thankfully he only took a few sips. I've attached a photo of what the cup looked like when we poured the rest of the coffee into my water glass as we were leaving. Speaking of my water glass...after seeing the coffee cup I took a hard look at my water glass I had almost drained. Lipstick residue, soap scum, and a variety of floating particles. Reached for my husband's and noticed much of the same. We stopped drinking at that point and wished we had taken a closer look at our silverware before eating. We were extremely naive because we never had to worry about the cleanliness before. I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here anymore and that saddens me because some of the same sweet people work here that have worked here for years. At the same time I can't ignore the drastic changes and issues at Ham and Eggs. ——————————————————————— Service is spotty, but the food is worth it! We have visited several times for breakfast which I would describe as typical home cooked favorites. Don't expect magically flavored food...these dishes for the most part are basic, but for the price and the fact you don't have to cook them yourself we love it! The portion sizes are HUGE! I typically order the sausage and cheese omelette with hash browns and a pancake. I've never been able to eat the whole omelette or the whole pancake and typically end up saving half of both my pancake and omelette for a full meal later. My fiancé orders the County Breakfast with eggs, sausage, hash browns, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. He typically only can eat 3/4s of the biscuit. I definitely think Ham and Eggs is...
Read moreMy daughter and I have a tradition of going out for a very early breakfast on Valentine's Day. So far the previous places we've been since moving to TX have either shut their doors or adjusted their hours, so the only place (that's not a national chain because while Waffle House will always hold a special place in my heart, my little girl deserves something more special than hash browns all the way) that I could find open at 0630 in reasonable driving distance was Jackie's Ham and Eggs.
We are glad we went! The service was extra friendly (we were the only ones there at opening, so our server Heather greeted us and seated us promptly). The prices are reasonable and the portions border on absurdity.
I was bound and determined to make good choices, so I decided to get a simple omelet with cheddar, meat, and shrooms. So far so good. A lot of other places just give you the omelet with no sides so I figured that would be a good protein-forward option. I was then asked if I wanted hashbrowns, fries, or grits, so I picked grits as the least dangerous option, and because I am a self-respecting southern boy. Then she asked if I wanted toast, english muffin, or pancake, and my mental circuit breaker tripped and I figured in for a penny, in for a few pounds -- I got the pancake.
First up, just look at that pancake. Gaze upon its sheer immensity. For reference, the scoop of butter is roughly the size of a golf ball, and the beast was nearly an inch thick. I don't believe I've ever been served a larger single pancake, and I've ordered countless pancakes all over this great nation of ours. Very tasty, though the task of getting enough syrup on there was daunting.
The portion of grits was impressive and the omelet was huge and delicious as well.
My daughter got the Classic Eggs Benedict. Where other places would serve it with a thin wafer of Canadian bacon, this place inserted a massively thick slab of ham steak that was delicious and tender, and then absolutely drowned the thing in hollandaise -- a huge plus in our book, as a lot of places just give it a light drizzle like some sort of tease. Her hash browns were well cooked and well seasoned, and the coffee portions were huge.
Overall, five stars. Thanks for being open early, Jackie. We will be back, probably sooner than next...

I am changing my star rating for ham and eggs to 5 stars. As per usual on a Saturday, my husband and I woke up hungry. And as per usual we wanted Jackie's ham and eggs. We placed our order for pick up and were greeted with warm smiles and friendly service. Tom showed us our food to make sure it was to our satisfaction- which it was. He remembered that I had put a review on Google and thanked me for my feedback, and made absolutely sure to ask us if our experience had improved with them. Well it has. Every single thing that they needed improvement on was clearly taken seriously bc everything was perfect. I am so happy about this because as we told Tom, there isn't much that would make us stop coming here... because they really do care and strive to keep their customers happy. Thank you guys again for caring as much as you do. Keep it up! We will see you next weekend!
I want to give more stars but i have 1 complaint that can be easily fixed and I see I am not alone on this. There is such a huge lack of consistency in the kitchen. They ask if you want hash browns crispy but then they don't make them crispy. I always get the corned beef hash. It's delicious, I get it with eggs over medium and toast. Well the last 3 times the bread was either over toasted, or not toasted barley at all. The eggs were cooked over easy last time and the yolk was broken. it's not a huge deal but at the end of the day the kitchen just needs to be consistent and care more about stuff like thay. The bacon is never cooked the same way. The only thing that is their saving grace is that the food is very good and homey for the most part. We actually called to tell them our concerns bc we know they care... And they felt terrible and offered us a meal on them. they just need to get a few things together and I think the improvement would be so drastic. I hope they read...
