This past weekend, Fat Man Reviews stopped at Archa Nine Thai Kitchen in Lexington, KY. Archa is an easygoing spot offering Thai street food. I ordered a Sake Sunrise. This is made with Sake, orange juice and sparkling wine. All I could taste was carbonation, the Sake came through at the bottom of the glass with a sweet plum taste. We tried the Taro Rolls, Chicken Satay and Pot Stickers. The Taro is fried spring roll stuffed with prawns and sweet taro. These were crispy fried, the filling was sweet with a slight spice, it reminded me of an under cooked pancake and the taste of a funnel cake. The Satay is made with turmeric-marinated chicken, coconut milk, cumin, Thai aromatic spices with a spicy peanut sauce. The chicken was fragrant, sweet but a little dry. The peanut sauce has a nice heat finish. The Pot stickers were Pan-fried dumplings filled pork and a soy and vinegar sauce. They had a good fry, but the pork was under seasoned. The sauce was tangy. I tried the Tom Yum soup made with lemongrass, galangal, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, lime leaves, lime juice, and cilantro( chicken with medium spice). The soup smelled amazing, and the broth was devine, great sour taste with lime and ginger. Vegetables were all cooked well, but there is sliced bay leaf and galangal in the soup, they are bitter and hard to chew. My fiancé tried the Cashew Chicken made with choice meat(chicken, mild spice), bell peppers, onions, roasted cashew nuts, and Thai sweet chili jam. The chicken was breaded and fried perfect it was very sweet and tasty. The vegetables were cooked well and plentiful. I had the Duck Curry made with roast duck, red curry(served medium with rice) pineapples, carrots, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and fresh basil leaves. The duck was roasted well and flavorful. The vegetables had a slight crunch adding texture. The curry is very sweet, the rice was a little over, slightly mushy. Archa serves several Thai dishes with various meat or vegan with tofu. The service was good. I would recommend ordering a spice level higher than normal as every dish was really sweet. The Fat Man says that Archa Nine Thai Kitchen is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

What a gem that I didn’t realize was so close to me! I was wowed by the beautifully modern dining area, it felt very upscale. I stopped in on a Monday night which wasn’t very busy, so obviously we were seated quickly. Yay since I was starving! The staff were friendly and helpful with any menu questions and advice. I started with an appetizer of their dumplings which were great. The dipping sauce had a little too much vinegar for me but it was still interesting. I ordered one of their curry dishes and it was served very quickly. Since they offered a choice, I tried it with medium heat. The dish was delightful! Such wonderful flavor, I wanted to eat it forever! My friend ordered one of the items from the Grill section and even though we shouldn’t have been surprised that it was mostly meat, we were surprised. I guess we still expected more of a Thai spin to it with noodles and sauces. It was very good, just be prepared for mostly meat. I spent under $20 on my meal with the entree and split appetizer but no drinks and it was worth it for the gourmet food and upscale environment. I will definitely be back!

Two days ago I had a doctor appointment at St. Joseph's. Hospital in Lexington so I decided to get some lunch while there. I asked Google for best thai food near me and first learned of this restaurant. After my appointment I called in my order and was told 15 minutes. When I got there my bill was $8 more then I expected and was told that the prices had gone up. All I ordered was the chicken satay and chicken pad thai so $8 dollars was a lot. I explained that I ordered off the menu online and she said the prices had gone up. When I got to the car I checked my order and was missing the cucumber salad for my chicken satay I went back into the restaurant to ask for it and was told they no longer serve it. I was very disappointed but what happened next was offensive. The woman asked me to see where I ordered from... So I went out to my car and got my phone. I showed the lady my Google search and that they came up first. Clicked on their website, clicked MENU (not photo gallery icon) and showed her the items, descriptions and prices. She was kinda rude, insisted a past customer posted the picture and that I ordered off the wrong menu. I clicked on the next menu pictures and they didn't have prices but had the same food. I suggested they edit their website if the prices were wrong. Another waitress suggested I write this review. NOW ABOUT THE FOOD- Chicken satay the chicken pieces were larger then normal pieces of chicken, it was POUNDED out chicken not cooked on a stick. It was dry and tough-I couldn't cut it with the plastic knife provided. The sauce was more hot chili (I ordered mild) then peanut sauce and no cucumber salad. Chicken pad thai was dry and greasy was little sauce and no crunchy vegetables on top. Needless to say that I was even sadder after trying the food. Not only was it $8 more than I planned to spend on lunch but it wasn't good.... I should have just not taken the food with the rudeness of staff and higher cost but I was so hopeful for the best thai food in Lexington. Just wanted...

Ordered online pickup order through website. After I hit submit on my payment, got a message that said something along the lines of "unable to complete your order because an item is out of stock. don't worry; you haven't been charged. please go back and order again."

Ok. Easy enough. I put in a new order with a different appetizer and paid. It let my order go through and said to pick up in 20 minutes.

After I picked up my food I got home and realized that I had actually received my first order. I checked my bank statement and saw that Archa nine had charged me for both orders.

I assumed it was some weird internet error and called the restaurant hoping they would make it right.

THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE REFUSED TO REFUND ME MY MONEY.

I only picked up one order of food but because of the error from their website I was charged for two. I explained this to the woman multiple times but she kept insisting that I had to pay for both orders (even though I only received one) because it was policy.

She also kept insisting that she was sorry.

Long story short: the food is good but the business practices are ratchet. I had to call the bank to dispute the charge because they wouldn't refund me their error.

Edit: The owner called me today and apologized for the miscommunication with her employee.

She refunded my credit card.

I apologized for leaving a heated review.

Their pad...
