Pretty d*mn cool! My mother came from out of town (county, state, time zone...) to visit me. Not being a Lex native myself, I asked around for places to take her to eat that she couldn't visit somewhere else, and Shamrocks was in the top three among many, many people asked. We were pretty excited to see the beer list on an ever-updated chalkboard by the bar, but it was a little inconvenient for her (mild mobility issues) to have to get up and go look every time she wanted to try a different drink. I ended up taking a photo of the board, since they didn't have a beer-list for the sit-down guests who can't see the board from their table. Everything else was great! I had a dietary issue that I honestly failed to mention when I was ordering, because it didn't occur to me to ask about the things I was getting- and that was MY fault.
Since that was the biggest detractor from my experience... well, I only have myself to blame. And the server was so kind about it, when I realized my mistake. Especially considering both my appetizer and side had a major irritant for me as an ingredient.
Knowing what I know now, I would ABSOLUTELY go again, and would love to bring another out-of-town guest with me to do so, because it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere lived up to the hype (very casual, low-key, but with, out sacrificing quality. Prices were very fair, and food was great! I couldn't even finish my whole lunch and had to take the rest to go- It carried well, too) and the drink options were everything I was hoping for. They even had a beer my mum had grown to love when living in ireland, which was a grand surprise for both of us- her to get to drink it again, and me to get to try it!
Check it out- it won't break the bank, and you'll have a really chill, enjoyable...
Read moreLet me preface my review with saying that for 20 years I have been enjoying your food and the atmosphere, especially on game nights. With that being said, I have never been more disappointed than I was tonight! My wife and I sat down for a nice dinner around 830 pm. The food was great, as usual. The waitress was great as well. A lady came over the intercom announcing that trivia would be starting and decided to play a song while people were getting ready. The day before the inauguration of the new President and what did she play? A song called "F* Trump!" Are you serious Shamrocks??? I don't care what your political affiliation is, that song was not suitable for an establishment such as Shamrocks! At least not the Shamrocks I have known for the last 20 years! I paid my bill and asked to speak to the manager. Not only was the message alarming but the language was worse than I have ever heard in my life, and I listen to A LOT of music! When the manager got there, I explained that I was disappointed. He stated that everyone had different political beliefs and I informed him that it doesn't matter what the DJS political beliefs are, but that Shamrocks should not make me listen to crap like that when I am trying to enjoy a meal with my wife! Not only was it completely degrading to our country as a whole but it was very distasteful for an establishment such as Shamrocks! Anyway, the manager was very dismissive and walked off when I was in the middle of a sentence. Shamrocks has completely disappointed me and it absolutely ticks me off because I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 20 years. Because of the blatant disregard for common sense, I will not be going back there until some...
Read moreI wish I’d gotten my server’s name. He was such a nice guy, polite, attentive, prompt, and checked on us regularly. With that said, I will never set foot in this restaurant again. We came in through the street entrance from Patchen around 10PM, my girlfriend held the door for me for quite some time because I am disabled and I can not move very well because of my back. My girlfriend also happened to have slipped down our stairs while we moved a new desk yesterday and was very sore, but we didn’t want to let it ruin our evening as we’d been looking forward to going to the movie we saw for a long time. We picked a booth on the other side of the restaurant, we were never within less than ten feet of the bartender. I move strangely because of my disability. My girlfriend, only for a moment, laid her head down on the table because she was hot. Our attentive, polite waiter let us know that the bartender had been “watching us” so she couldn’t.
I have never been so offended. This was the first time we’ve been out in months because of my mobility issues, only for us to get treated like junkies by someone who never waited on or spoke to us. I really enjoy the food and again can’t say enough positive about the server but there is absolutely no possibility I will ever return to a restaurant where I was...
