What a joy to find a real Montreal french speaking boulangery in Lexington! Bluegrass Baking Co. has very good collection of dailybread offerings and friendly personalized service. They offer and can slice the bread for you if you ask. They offer assorted morning pastries, croissants, eclairs, tarts. They currently have curbside ordering and pickup and do accept credit cards and cash. The challenge is that there isn’t as of yet (sept5.2020) a display setup in their storefront window for viewing specifically of their bread and cookie offerings which would be helpful to new customers during covid19. They do have a sheet pan displaying their pastries available for that day. I suggested to the owners to maximize utilization and beautification of both of their storefront windows for a best foot forward approach. This would make a great inviting curbside service and a great first impression, as multiple customers lined up outside, had questions regarding what their breads looked like so it took more of their time to service each client. Clever businesses must stay flexible and adapt to changing needs in order to not only stay afloat during these covid times but thrive for the longterm. They are wonderful with their service and assistance. They are located right across from the north lime coffee and donuts who have set up a covered ordering stand and desk outside, so you can get all your glutton on...
Read moreMy qualm with this place is that in needs to clean its ovens, every pastry they make tastes like everything they’ve ever made. A slightly burnt taste that comes from the air inside the oven. The pastry’s themselves could be super good if they cleaned all the old flavoring from the walls of the oven. I offer that criticism not because I don’t want to come to this place but because I do, it would be absolutely great if their pastry’s tasted like they are supposed to instead of everything they’ve ever burnt. They’re not burning the pastry itself, it’s the air from that oven. It makes them taste awful, and this isn’t an isolated thing, my wife has brought back things from there from the last 5 years and every single thing(probably 50 different times) I’ve had from there has had dirty oven taste. It’s not a signature taste if the taste comes from a dirty oven, please clean it and you’ll make a...
Read moreI’ve never bought a loaf of bakery bread in my life, only commercially processed from grocers. Looking for whole wheat bread that is minimally processed. I’ve been to this bakery for a pie maybe a decade ago, so I gave them a try.
I was immediately greeted as I walked i. The door. Explained my situation and found they have several options. What is offered depends on which day you walk in. I tried the Honey Wheat to begin my quest for a healthier slice of bread.
This bread tasted great. It toasts well, and makes a good sandwich. I’ll be a regular customer going forward.
Not accustomed to visiting a local bakery, I still felt the place had the bakery vibes I’ve seen on TV and in the movies.
I’m not familiar with the full range of their products, but I do remember my Dad enjoying their rhubarb pie a decade ago.
I can...
