Positives to this restaurant: ⢠Asthetic atmosphere - Beautiful dishware, placemats, and decor ⢠Portion size - Rather large portion sizes. I, personally, do not enjoy giant portion sizes; however, you get plenty of food for the price you pay.
Negatives** to this restaurant: ⢠Slow customer service - We walked into the restaurant and the woman at the counter did not tell us to pick our own seats or even acknowledge us; we chose to just pick our own seats and wait. We waited at least 5 minutes before she even decided to stand up to give us menus and water. It also took us a while to get food, to-go boxes, and our check. On the flip side, she did ask us if we wanted to switch tables since ours was close to the door; therefore, there was a consistent cold draft from the door opening. ⢠Small - There were maybe seven tables. ⢠Poor quality - The quality was just not desirable. For starters, we ordered the Thai tea; the result was a rather gritty taste that stuck to the back of your throat. I've had many Thai teas in town and this was the worst; /I've/ made better Thai tea than this. Perhaps it was an old batch, but that does not improve the quality, regardless. The other half of the review of "poor quality" was the amount of grease in everything. You could taste and see the amount of grease on/in items; it was an unnecessary amount. ā¢Americanized - This was probably my least favorite part of the whole experience. All of the food was Americanized. Corn, peas, bell peppers, etc were among the vegetables in the dishes even though there are a few ethnic stores within a mile of the restaurant. When I ordered the curry puffs, I expected it to be similar to samosas based on the description; what I received was diced potatoes, onions, and corn tossed in curry powder and put into a puff pastry. The fried rice and green curry were similar in the fact that they were loaded with vegetables typical of the Americas with a faint Thai flavor. It just didn't scream "I'm Thai food," to me.
Overall, I was very displeased with my experience, and I thought it was a waste of my money.
**Disclaimer: I have been going to the Thai restaurant, Bangkok House, in Lexington for 3 years now; I have also been to Thai Planet on one occasion. The taste factor that goes into this review is only /slightly/ biased; if I had never been to either restaurant to compare this one to, I would /still/ have only given this review 3 stars at the most. I stand by my position on all of the negatives I found with this restaurant regardless of having been to other Thai...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter and I were craving Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) after I picked her up from school, but most places are closed between 2-5PM. This one was open! Glad we tried it. The restaurant was very clean, beautifully decorated, with extremely reflective wooden tabletops. Our waitress was a beautiful woman who was very inviting and friendly. She brought us 2 Thai Iced teas, and some crispy coconut shrimp served with a very light cilantro aioli. The iced teas were reasonably priced; most places ask $4.50 or $5 for one glass, this place charges $2.50. The whole menu looked delicious. We ordered pad kee mao (chicken) and green curry (veggie). They use real Thai curry paste made with ground chilies so be aware that even if you order your curry mild, it will still have some heat. My green curry came with white rice. The veggies in the curry were broccoli, red bell pepper, green bean, bamboo shoots, onion, in a green chili coconut milk curry sauce. My daughter usually nibbles at her food and gets bored of eating, but with her plate of drunken noodles she ate almost all of it. We sat for a long time sharing and savoring the food. The waitress was so sweet to my daughter and offered her a few candies after we closed the bill which came to $44 for 2 drinks, an appetizer, and 2 entrees and tax. Overall this place has good food and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my first ever negative review to any restaurant in my history of dining out. I would give it a negative review if there is any option. I have never seen any waitress getting so rude and upset on seeing two mothers for going out with kids in any restaurant. From beginning till end the waitress did every effort to make us realize that kids are not welcomed in this restaurant.
Conclusion : We thought it was only us who experienced bad customer service there, but after reading several other low star reviews , I would say that the customer service is actually really bad. Or I guess it varies with that waitress/owner/front desk ladyās mood swings. So if you want to have a good time with your family and friends , donāt dare to go there. Itās a biggest mood...
