Freshie's Ice Cream & Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Lexington

Freshies has wonderful ice cream and atmosphere! We have been frequent customers at the one near Tates Creek. We tried out this location tonight which is closer to us and it wasn’t the best experience. We waited over 30 minutes and it wasn't that time was the biggest issue it was none of the workers were at the register. There were customers waiting a LONG time when we showed up. There was a massive line and they didn’t have a clue what they should be doing. One of them threw out a customers order and I recited it back to them. YIKES! No one was moving fast either. Customers were also very confused how and where to get their ice cream. Have a pickup line or make it clear. Employees were trying to track people down. We will definitely be back however I think these employees need a lot more training and need to have a more experienced person there guiding and providing a process on how to get ice cream...

Not gonna lie, this was a cute little shop! They allowed me to come inside with my dog and gave him a pup cup, which was really nice. The inside was clean and the employees were very friendly. I tried a sample of one of their ice cream flavors and it tasted fine so I had ordered a whole scoop of it. And you get a lot for the price you pay which was nice! However, about two or three bites in, I could taste that familiar freezer burn flavor, along with some crunchy ice crystals mixed throughout the scoop. After about a third of the way through, I just gave up and threw the rest away cuz I couldn't enjoy it. I should have just come inside and asked for something different, but for $4 it wasn't really worth the trouble. I'll probably be back...

Freshies is one of my favorite places and has been for a while. I recently went in and asked for what I always order without nuts and it came out with nuts on it. When I corrected them they questioned if I had a peanut allergy and I said yes as mine is a mild allergy. Instead of making a new one they just took the peanuts off and acted as if they made a new one while peanuts were still on the plate. Again although my allergy is mild others allergies to peanuts are much more severe which should have been taken into consideration. I still love freshies but those with allergies...
