Let's be real, this is a place that you need to come to for the food. The decor is just ok, but the food is outstanding! I thought I didn't like chicken mole or tamales because I had never liked them before, but both are delicious here. I'm mildly obsessed with their tamales and order a side of them every time I visit, which currently is weekly. Other dishes I've enjoyed have been the Chicken Enchilada Suizas, the ranchero salad, the chimichangas, and the nachos. The corn chips are fresh and house made, and the salsa is addictive, though my first impression was that it's too runny. Their pico de gallo is also delicious and very fresh, so if you like a thicker salsa, I recommend asking for that. The rice and beans that come with many of the meals are good enough to order on their own, and I normally wouldn't even eat it at other restaurants. From Ixtapa, I order extra so that I've got enough to bring for lunch the next day or so. The flan is also excellent! Very rich and creamy. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and I haven't tried anything I haven't liked, so I highly recommend checking them out the next time you're craving good...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised by every part of the experience! The food was really good - and this is coming from a guy that grew up in Los Angeles and referred to Mexican food as “food” growing up in my Mexican household. I can typically tell by the chips and salsa if I’m in for a good meal AND the gut was right! We were LA tourists staying at the Inn at Hastings Ranch and wanted some Mexican food. The choice paid off!
My wife and I had the carne asada plate with shrimp. The marinade was really tasty on the carne asada while the shrimp were fresh and nicely cooked. Our kids split a chicken quesadilla which was really good with juicy chicken and plenty of cheese. The guacamole 🥑 was well-seasoned and fresh. The Tres Leches cake topped it all off with a great finish.
I’d highly recommend this spot for the locals (and let them know that they are getting legitimate faire) and for any visitors, you won’t be disappointed with this nice family-run restaurant. Good service, well-finished & clean environment, & tasty, healthy portions at a reasonable price....
Read moreWent in for Dinner (Sunday night), they were slightly busy but no wait. Staff was fast and courteous. My dish came out in very reasonable time, the food was very good.
I ordered carne asada burrito, it was prepared with a very well seasoned beef steak in a burrito wrap (not too salty). The other ingredients (rice beans, cream and pico) were left on the side, as dinner plate.
I liked everything that was served, it was tasty but not salty, salsa is authentic you can tell. I saved most of it to combine with my dinner plate, portions were on the generous side too. Lots of places since Covid will dial back on the offings, didn’t feel that here.
I will return here as it was one best dishes I had in awhile. Most places that serve burritos come out either too dry, too salty or too greasy, this one was perfect. Also to note, nice selection of real Mexican Beer. There’s no bar there but I saw many other tables with margaritas etc and can tell they got the right thing going here. 5 stars...
