Trattoria Nina — Restaurant in Arlington

We had to make a reservation to go here. They do not take walk-ins. The space is small; approximately 6 tables. It was dark when we first arrived. It took a while for the lights to come on. Our server was nice. He struggled a bit reciting the specials; particularly what the octopus soup consistes of. We assured him we were not going to order that to make his life easier. My wife got a bean and sausage soup which tasted like hot water poured over beans and sausage. The pasta meals were good and the dessert, canollis, were too small. Love sitting outside here. The owner and his sons are very welcoming and the owner takes your order then goes into the kitchen to cook it which is lovely! He speaks very passionately about his food and makes great recommendations. Their menu is smaller as a result of the pandemic but it states they can cook older dishes if you ask. Meh. Thoroughly mediocre. My wife got a pasta. It had watery pasta sauce. I ordered a mushroom risotto. The rice was fine, but onions were undercooked and crunchy. Mushrooms were plain baby bella, pretty flavorless. They couldn't be bothered to use some mushroom mix with wild mushrooms. The menu is really small with limited options.
