I went here thinking I'd get a simple, home cooked meal, but, my taste buds are literally fighting right now, and don't know which way to go, and my wallet is crying cause I spent almost $25, but could only eat about $8 worth of my meal!,🤦♀️... Okay,, I ordered the meatloaf with a side of Mac n cheese, green beans, & cabbage, with extra cornbread!, I was planning on eating half, saving half!, Well, soon as I opened the container of cabbage, the smell was unlike no other & all I see is peppers!😳,, Green peppers, red peppers, yellow peppers, & another different green pepper!!, It literally ruined the cabbage! It was a flavor I can't even describe, accept not good!. I just wanted normal cabbage, NOT A MOUTHFUL OF PEPPERS!🤦♀️.. Had to trash it.. So, next I try a bite of the meatloaf!, After I cut it & ate a bite, I see something, (more than 1), in it!. I take them out, and dissect it & figured out, IT'S PEPPERONI!🤦♀️.. If I liked pepperoni, I'd got a pizza! Eww, WHY, WHY, is all I'm saying!, Okay, next the green beans!, Oh Lordy!,, I took one bite, then went straight to the trash can!!, I don't know what these things were cooked in, & I'm not sure how you mess up a green bean, but these things had the nastiness taste, along with the mouthful of oil they were in!! SOO much oil! 🤢.. Yet again, another flavor I can't describe, So, had to trash those!, Now, to the Mac, and cornbread.. Those are the only 2 edible foods I was able to eat!, The cornbread wasn't bad,, Good flavor, (Actually tasted of cornbread), cooked perfectly!, The Mac, pretty good,, slightly off on the flavor, not sure, could have been the combination of whichever cheeses they used, (one was stringy, one was clumpy), but, was good enough, I could eat it! This was such the opposite of a normal home cooked meal!, This was almost like, okay, Let me experiment with some food, and see if it sells!🤦♀️.. ALLLLL these conflicting flavors & tastes of this food, has just left me dumb founded!. I will never ever go back!,..ever!,, If their gonna advertise home cooked meals, they better bring the flavors, spices, additives, oils, toppings, etc., Down a bit!, Cause all that unnecessary, just ruines the food!!, I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant, I wouldn't send my enemy their!, It taste that bad,...
Read moreFancy dinner plates, supper forks versus salad forks, glass drinkware, classic melodies playing in the background... None of that matters if the food isn't good, especially if the price matches the ambiance. Now this is what I call good eatin'. Down home, southern style, full of hospitality - Mimi's Southern Style cooking did NOT disappoint! You walk in and they have a hot bar front and center with all the good food they offer. We got our food for dine in. Their portion size was unexpected and definitely big enough. Husband got two fried porkchops (so flavorful and juicy), with cornbread (not necessarily as sweet as we like, but better than most restaurant cornbread), green beans (delicious), macaroni and cheese (yummy) and mashed potatoes (if these weren't homemade, they definitely tasted like they were). I ordered the shrimp alfredo, which was so good and not dry in the least. It had a hint of a spicy kick, but it was barely there. I got the same sides he chose. Neither of us could finish our food! I told the employees that I didn't want to stop eating, but I couldn't possibly eat any more, so I grabbed a box to take the rest home with me. Then my husband asked for another order of the mashed potatoes and green beans to go, along with an order of their collared greens. We both left full, satisfied, and even looking forward to eating more for supper later! Also, the price was more than fair and absolutely worth it. This was our first time visiting and it definitely won't be our last. If you're ever in the area, we recommend you absolutely give them a try!
*Employees were the absolute...
Read moreOk here we go. This was the first time I had ever been to this restaurant and I have been a several home cooking establishments in my lifetime. I walked into the place and said you must be Rhea and instantly got a hug with a smile. Remind you now this was my first time here. I ordered the fried chicken and sides. The Mac and cheese was like heaven. The green beans were amazing and the mashed potatoes, well you get the point. The young lady working hard in the back brought food up for the hot bar and was super nice, she greeted us with a beautiful but shy smile. Even if the food wasn't good I would be back for the service, however the food was amazing. My only issue is that Rhea only works Monday and I am normally working on Monday, I am currently out of work because I had a knee replacement. I can tell you this, if you come here you will be reminded of spending a day with family at grandma's house, eating food made with lots of love and happiness. I am only giving this place 5 stars because I can't give it 12. Do yourself a little favor and try this place out if you haven't already. Be just a little nice to the staff and you will leave there feeling like you just saw your favorite family members. You absolutely will not be disappointed. And no I am not being paid to write this review, it comes straight from the heart. Thank you to everyone I met today for a wonderful meal and...
