Thete was one person ln line ordering and and less than 30 seconds later, it was my turn. I ordered a double cheeseburger and a small fry. Total price $4.16. I did not get a drink and i always get a small fry, when going there, because their small fry is equal to a large fry from other places. I would say that for most adults, other than then older teenagers, anything more than a small fry will be wasted. The large fry would be good to split three ways. Less than one minute after placing my order, they were pushing my hot order of tasty food out to me. After filling two small cups of catsup and gathering my napkins, i took my order out to a table and devoured it. A sidenote, i needed to charge my phone and after looking the place over for an electrial outlet, i found none. I went to the counter for assistance and they showed me where the only electric outlet was hidden. The building which i think was built in 1957 has not had a major remodel, but it does not feel date because it is exceptionally clean and brightly lit with no "dungy" area. As a matter of fact, i would say, that it is the cleanest resturant in town. I found no dust bunnys anywhere. This resturant plainly sets the bar for customer service, friendlyness, cleanliness, and bargin in what you get for the price, all if the qualitys are unmatched anywhere in Lexington. While most standalone non-franchised resturants have s hard time staying in business, this one is thriving, but of course, it has more thsn a half a century of experience. The only quirk is that this is a cash only facility, and they dont take any credit cards, google pay, pay pal, or ect. And the only place that i know of that gives a hall dollar piece as part...
Read moreInitially, we came here yesterday. However, I did insufficient research beforehand, as they are cash only, and they don't have a nearby ATM. However, don't let that discourage you, if you can, this place is so worth finding somewhere to get the cash you need to pay the bill at time of placing your order. Depending on your party, and everything that you order, I think $8.50-$9 is a good estimate for the per person cost of a meal here, if you want to get drinks and fries.
However, let's talk about today, I came back with cash, so we could experience this restaurant as a part of our 4 day weekend from Huntsville, AL. It's hard to explain how glad I am that we came back, because this place is really good for everything that it is.
Some key phrases and words, I think I could conjure up to describe this place as; Delightfully Vintage, Simple, Lowkey, Inexpensive, High Quality, and Good Tasting Food.
For two people, we spent under $17 for two double cheeseburgers, two medium drinks, and two large fries. Its contemporaries could possibly under cut it in price, however the quality of a meal you'll get from those places, could never fathom to touch what this place was able to achieve, especially for the money.
I'd absolutely come back, if I lived here, or even closer than 5 hours away. I'd be sure to put this as one of the top places to make sure to...
Read moreTo say that Burger Shake is Delicious, it's an understatement. This is Another longstanding, Lexington, family-owned business. My family has been regulars for as long as I can remember.Their burgers are so juicy, and yes served wrapped in wax paper(old school). Their fries, omg....Perfect. Now, their shakes are a whole level from what you probably had...so creamy, so rich, snd so delicious. People literally start sipping their shake as soon as they get it. I know my family does. They are Cash Only, so make sure you have at least $20(2 people) and maybe $40 dollars(family of 4), if you get just regular burger, shake and fries. If you are daring, try the double burger...burger of burgers. I've tackled it twice....talk about full. Oh, you get your change, in actual Kennedy half dollars. Now how cool is that. Kids love that. Even the 'big kids'. Another tradition...memories....
This place is a Northside tradition, so expect a line. If you attended any schools on Northside(Northern, Dixie, Mary ToddYates, Winburn, Bryan Station Middle, Bryan Station High, etc) chances are you will have a school reunion each and every single day. Kids would skip school just to get Burger Shake.
So if you want an old school burger experience, give them a try. Word of caution, come hungry and expect to get FULL. Food Coma...
