Nick's Place — Restaurant in Lexington

As of Monday, April 21, 2025, after many years of offering pasta dinners for half price on Mondays, Nick's Place has chosen to discontinue this practice, and although the food and service are good, they have lost a regular customer because of this.

UPDATE, Saturday, May 3, 2025: The fact that the owner responded to two negative reviews regarding their inconsistent and unclear closing times and have rectified (which I applaud, and hopefully will also post the hours at their location as well as the cut-off time before closing for ordering) were left AFTER this review, says that the owner is indifferent in trying to earn back the business he/she is loosing because of the above referenced change in policy (also ignoring the more detailed email I sent). I will be reducing my rating to two stars until further notice.

Used to live in the area and would frequent here. Last visit to this establishment was a takeout order of a roast beef dinner and a tuna sub. For those who are not familiar, the dinners come with salad. While enjoying my salad I found a small bug in it. I assumed that the lettuce didn't get properly rinsed. Ruined my appetite. Called up and asked for a refund of just the dinner, the sub was fine.

They claimed they couldn't just refund us the cost of the dinner, they had to cancel the whole transaction and run the card again for just the tuna sub. The owner tells us to check our bank account in a few days and guarantees us that the money for the original transaction will be refunded. It hasn't. Charged for a dinner that was contaminated with pests and charged twice for the sub that actually was edible.

Woof. What happened to Nicks Place? The last time I went in, it was the end of July. Boy oh boy, the sight of the production area was Filthy and the entire building had to be 90+ degrees. When I inquired why it was so hot in the building. I saw two Air Conditioning Units installed above the door, why weren't they on. The pregnant girl behind the counter told me and a lady also waiting for food, that the Owner, Nick didn't want them on and they'd get yelled at if they turned them on. I promptly reached above the door and turned both of them on. I told the staff to inform the owner, that a customer turned them on. I left without my food in complete disgust.
