Our first time there. It is not a traditional restaurant. You go to the counter and order what you want. And then you go and sit. They give you a beeper that will light up and buzz to let you know when your order is ready. The gentleman at the counter was polite and nice. Nothing special, just polite and nice. We ordered a bottle of wine which he brought to us with 2 glasses. The beeper buzzed, and we went up to the counter to retrieve our orders. I was immediately disappointed. My wife ordered a red sauce type of dish that had ham, noodles, and sun-dried tomatoes with mushrooms. I ordered chicken fettuccine in Alfredo sauce. Her order came in a bowl, which was quite full of her order. My order, however, was no more than half of that. It barely covered the bottom of the bowl. Although it was a large disappointment, it was the only disappointment. The chicken fettuccine Alfredo was really, really quite good. My wife also enjoyed her dish. I did try her dish, however, and I found it to be mediocre. The wine was a chardonnay, and it was quite cold, judging from the condensation on the bottle. I did not try that wine as I was driving, but my wife told me it was good. It was a California wine. We both had a good time, and it was quite an enjoyable atmosphere. After eating, you need to clear your own table and dishes. They do serve you on ceramic dishes. And you will have metal silverware. If it weren't for the fact that I was served a 1/2 portion (in my opinion), it would have been a perfect experience, if you're into eating at a fast food type of Italian restaurant. I would go there again, but if I were to be served with what I believe to be a 1/2 portion, we would not be back. I did joke with my wife and told her. I really need to go back there and ask them where the rest of it was. Oh, we also ordered an appetizer. It was something that was covered with some type of potato with some type of cheese in the middle, sitting in some type of tomato sauce. It was also good. We did spend $64 but weren't obliged to...
Read moreAbsolutely NO complaints about Pasta Garage! I haven't been back since they opened - because my first meal was godawful salty and I couldn't bear the thought - but last week they were my #1 choice for Markey DineAround, and I was pleased to see that many others were thinking the same! I needed the perfect place to meet up with my visiting aunt and uncle, plus my boyfriend had never been, so I considered it a fresh start for each of us. I've always been a fan of their homemade pasta (sold in retail, at the Farmer's Market, and at their market, Bodega, on North Limestone) so I was excited to give them another chance, and I'm SO glad I did! The line was literally out the door on several occasions, and we waited over 45 minutes for our food, but it was WORTH IT to give 25% back to the Markey Cancer Foundation. My aunt and I both opted for the lasagna entree (not to be confused with the fried lasagna appetizer); not only was the portion huge and paired with a perfectly crispy and buttery breadstick, but it was also bursting with flavors. The kind of meal that just makes you feel good all the way through. My uncle chose the chicken parmesan, and judging from the speed with which he ate it, I'd imagine his was pretty pleased too. We were so caught up in conversation I honestly forgot to ask him. My boyfriend went with the macaroni and cheese, "Rosetti pasta with smoked gouda mornay sauce & prosciutto" and inhaled every bite, commenting along the way about how good it was. We were a happy table, to say the least. The guys each partook in a couple Yuenglings, while my aunt and I opted to share a bottle of Cabernet, so it's super nice that they offer both options, along with soft drinks, etc. I don't award 5-star reviews very often, but Pasta Garage is absolutely deserving of this and so much more praise. Now I can't wait to...
Read moreI had really high hopes for pasta garage and I’ve been meaning to try it since I moved to Lexington. When my friend came in from out of town we decided it would be the perfect dinner that was casual, comfy, and not a stuffy long dinner. Unfortunately pasta garage did not at all live up to any of our expectations. There was NO line when we got there but it took an HOUR to get our food. For pasta that needs to be dropped in boiling water, and sauce that is already made that is ABSURD especially when there was NO line. Absolutely no one in front of us placing an order. Then when we get our food, an hour later, it’s in a to go bag which made it really difficult to eat in the restaurant when we wanted to share all different pastas. Those that got their food after us (also visibly frustrated, and audibly frustrated as they also said “FINALLY!” When their buzzer rang) were all served their food in proper plates. On top of all that, we were missing an entree and had to head to the window again and wait on that. We had planned to grab dessert there, but were so frustrated we left as soon as we finished our mediocre meals. The ravioli was way over cooked to the point where it had opened up and the Kentucky shaped pasta was no where near Al dente. Thankfully my kid slurped up her spaghetti with no issues but this is not an establishment I plan to eat at again, especially since not one person apologized for the long wait time or for the...
