We decided to check out the SkyBar in Lexington and it was such a pleasant surprise. Starting with the speakeasy-style basement entrance that anticipates your entrance into a secret place. A welcoming bartender with choices of seating at the bar or an assortment of tables situated around the edges of the space. A gorgeous and colorful fireplace framed the opposite end of the space. I loved the atmosphere with painted bricks and a hint of sparkle and the dark wood pub tables with comfortable chairs. The bar food/ appetizer/ dinner menu is small but mighty. We decided on the Cheese platter that came with 3 cheeses, sourced from local farms, thinly sliced salami, apple slices, black grapes, spicy almonds, chocolate raisins, a skewer of giant stuffed mushrooms, gorgeous mustard, bread, and crackers. Then to add a holiday flare some pretzels glazed in pumpkin chocolate and cranberry jam. So good. We also ordered Pollo asado tacos. They came with bean salad which we put on top of the tacos. This flavorful dish was a quintessential taco with pulled chicken, tomatoes, beans, and peppers all diced small and mixed with refreshing cilantro leaves to round out the tastes. Spicy with just enough kick. Yum. The music was just right, fun, and not too loud for conversation. Our server was personable, polite, helpful, and welcoming. We were so glad we decided to visit and will definitely be recommending it and going...
Read moreDo not drink and get tipsy/drunk. My friends and I met up here to celebrate a birthday. While there one of the girls in the group tripped over her purse at the bar. Instead of telling the ONE girl to be cut off she kicked all 5 of us out. Mind you we all were responsible and had a ride drop us off so Instead of staying for the ride we had to leave the premises. It was pretty cold outside and our ride was 15 minutes out so we had to wait and the "bouncer" tried to keep me (who wasn't kicked out or drunk) from going back and grabbing a friend's jacket. We weren't causing any problems a girl just tripped over her purse!!! Drinks were okay, food was decent but overly priced in my opinion with poor choices. The space is pretty small and boring, and would much rather go to the palms or go out of town for the experience we had! They did play...
Read moreThis place is mysterious. It feels like a secret due to the darkness and having to walk downstairs. The bar is nicely laid out, they have a small selection of draft beer but at least is not only IPA options. They had a Kolsch, an Amber besides an IPA. The house drinks are very good and the limeade is made in-house; very nice. Because it is smaller, it gets very loud once more than 15 people arrive but, you can simply go early and leave around 10. Bartenders were nice and attentive. I did not try the food as had just eaten. You should...
