When the food is on point, it's out of this world. When the owner is working the grill and focusing on the food, it's the best around.
That being said, 4 out of 5 orders from Grubhub and Doordash have been delivered missing items, yet we were fully charged. Called the store, they have the items on their slip for the order but they forgot to make them or didn't see them. So we simply gave up using those services for this restaurant. We don't have this issue with other restaurants, and we have the same driver. I am getting suspicious that they are trying to make a big premium by shorting the orders, hoping they don't have to refund the customer or delivery service.
Now, the other problem is consistency with the food. We've had K'nafa since before they moved into their new location on Belmont Ave. Like I said, when the owner is focusing on the food, it's awesome. But since the new place opened, that's been less than 20% of the time. All the other times, and we're talking 30+ orders for take-out, dine-in, or delivery, the end product itself has been way off base for quality.
The chicken will be dry and rubbery, the kafta will be dry. For example, one order we picked up, we asked for a package of bread, and it was moldy. Obviously not fresh, not even remotely fresh. Another to-go order, we called 1 hour ahead of time, knowing it could take a while. Our order was not even started until we arrived. We literally watched a kafta on the grill for 45 minutes, then go in our to-go order. You can guess how that was. So we had to wait an additional hour after arriving for our order to be ready, that's 2 hours from the time we placed the order.
We really want them to succeed, love having this cuisine so readily available, but the inconsistency is killing it. We never leave reviews, but after losing out probably $150 in the last 3 or 4 orders, just can't take it anymore. Buyer beware! Particularly if you use a...
Read moreThe humus was amazing and...well, thats pretty much the only good thing I can say.
I placed an order and hoped to grab it and go to my hotel. I arrived after the pick up time and it wasn't even started yet. Grr... The counter person, who wasn't wearing a mask, said 5 minutes. 20 minutes later my food is ready, which is 1/2 hour after it was supposed to be.
The humus is a generous sized container but comes with a single pita for $6. This seemed like they really cheaped out. I would have preferred another pita and a little less hummus.
I ordered the gyro as my entree. It barely had any tzatziki sauce on it, which is my favorite part. I believe it was made with lamb, which is fine except that 1. They were not bite sized chunks (too large) and 2. Had huge chunks of fat in them. A couple pieces were more fat than meat.
There were two people running the store/restaurant. The person at the front counter did all the work while the other prepared soup for nobody. This was strange as 4 people were waiting on orders. It would have made more sense to have both helping make the food instead of one scrambling to make everything and taking longer.
Maybe they were off their game because it was a slow Saturday. If it is always like that, I would recommend...
Read moreSo i googled middle eastern restraunt near me as I live in the country and there aren't any restraunts near by. Knafa came up. The first time I went there i went on a empty stomach. We ordered grape leaves hummus okra with lamb over rice, baked chicken over rice, the baklava and coconut cake for desert. The beverages were rose water with lychee and a couple other flavors. The food was authentic and taste great. When you walk in you're greeted with smiles and a staff that is very attentive. It's like your family and they treat you as if youre the favorite in the family. Since the fist time I've been there I've been back 5 times. I've tried the gyros which are hands down the best. The gyro meat is fresh. Really fresh, not like all the other places who cut it off the log then freeze it and reheat it. The meat literally falls off the bone of every dish I've had to far. This place is small but its probably one of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile and there is a small grocery store attached with all your middle eastern foods. Prices are fair for the portions you receive. I would rate this place a 10 out of 10. The owner has been there everyday I've went which tells you that the attention to detail is very...
