I threw my wife a surprise birthday party here on November 20th and it was amazing. Thank you so much to Brittany who was an awesome host that spoke with me more than multiple times to get all the details right. She has a great personality and thought of every detail down to have the blinds close dto the room so no one could be seen! She had great ideas and suggestions as well. Even took an impromptu meeting with me when I popped up at the restaurant unscheduled and helped me plan all the appetizers for the event. We had a good showing of about 30 people and appetizers came out promptly at 3:30 and there was nothing to be desired. The server, I think her name was Jessica (sorry ma'am!), was great. The reason I went with O'toole's, is because they were very flexible in the planning. The times were open, I could have made a personal menu but I chose to use their menu, they allowed individual checks/couples/families which other establishments wouldn't, and the room fee was very very affordable for a party of this size in comparison to other local and well-known places in the area that charge a room fee seven times the amount I paid at O'toole's. Meals were very good, for a party of my size they brought everything out in a reasonable time. Highly recommend and would definitely do it again. The room we had, I don't know the name, but it was awesome very elegant and was very nice for the event.

After visiting Timothy O’Tools in Libertyville and speaking with the event coordinator, Gabriel, my fiance and I were impressed. The venue provides an entire floor that has plenty of seating for our guests. A large bar with a stage and catering area is provided with comfortable seating near a fireplace. The venue offers a warm welcoming that gives a great celebration environment for any occasion. Definitely a great place to have gatherings of any kind. We’re very excited to have our wedding here and highly recommend booking events at this location. It’s located in the downtown of Libertyville, IL. A great place surrounded by other places to visit for food and beverages. When the weather is warm and beautiful, this is a great place to enjoy sitting in their outdoor dining area, which is screened in. If you’re looking to book an event here, highly recommend contacting Gabriel. She’ll do everything she can to help accommodate your special occasion. She doesn’t charge for renting the venue. This is a win-win for everyone!

I tried a few times this legendary place in Libertyville… and I left always thinking the same. Not for me. The 4 stars are 89% for the staff. Dedicated, precise, fast, kind and profesional. Even the summer kids that they hire temporarily are nice! Good job! However… I find myself screaming to be able to communicate because the noise inside is always super loud. And then there’s the food… it’s just fine… for what the place is, I feel it could be slightly better. Nothing special. We ordered the fries with the beef and it was cold on the sides and just warm in the center. My wife got the fish with rice and I got to try it; that was better. I guess the rest of the stars go for the wide variety of beers… They have been in business since 1982, so may be time to review their kitchen… it would make a huge difference. They have trivia Tuesday’s and a ton of events which is what makes you come back. Drinks and events. Other than that, am going to wait for the food to improve before am back.

This is my go-to place for special occasions with my family. Some restaurants have huge menus of so-so food, and then there are brilliant places like this that have a smaller menu but everything made up to a 10 out of 10 class, with a flavor for almost every taste. I have some picky eaters and they always love to go to O'Toole's in Libertyville. They have paired amazing food with amazing drinks, and their amazing staff like James who took care of us tonight by offering recommendations as well as details of each dish or dessert we asked about, made the whole experience so much better. I recommend their ghost fire burger, the French dip, and tonight fell in love with the ahi tuna bowl (attached). The dessert items are perfect for sharing, either with a partner or your later self! I also like that their take home boxes are not Styrofoam based and contain no metal so they can go right in the microwave for reheating tomorrow.

My second time dining at O'tooles. Definitely a popular spot and gets quite busy. Parking at the street and in back area is quite easy. There is an outdoor patio, bar area, main dining and private dining area so lots of options. Last time we got the burgers and they were quite tasty and are large portions. This time we got two items from the special menu. The Mahi Mahi with the pineapple dressing and pumpkin seeds was so delicious. Fish was cooked perfectly to be moist and tender, the sauce paired with it very well. The Birria fries was underwhelming and a bit dry, would not recommend. Our friends got the Korean sandwich and a burrito bowl and they both enjoyed. So I'd say generally food tends to be on the good side. Lots of beer options and cocktails. I know they have different specials daily for drinks and food. They also have trivia on Tuesdays which is something fun to try and join.

Had other plans in Libertyville, so we stopped in early to enjoy happy hour and sample a variety of small plates. We would definitely recommend the Pork Belly Bao as we settled for a single, somewhat blurry picture, because the other one was being enjoyed and already half gone. The pretzels with cheese sauce were also really good, tasting almost more like garlic bread. We liked the appetizers so much, we stayed and ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad, which I would recommend with grilled chicken, and the Mumbai Chicken Curry Bowl, which my wife loved but could not finish because of the portion size! Great food, good service & recommendations from staff, and a secluded and relaxed atmosphere that really set the tone of our evening. While we don't get to Libertyville often, we will definitely be back!
