Try the woodfired motorina omaggio for a totally different kind of pizza. The brussel sprouts and balsamic glaze make healthy eating enjoyable. Crust is super light and crispy. Detroit style the Works: we liked how the cheese melts against the pan creating an agreeable taste sensation. Since it’s mostly cheese and crust, some kind of sauce to dip it into would be a real game changer and take it up a notch. A lot of toppings, perhaps too many. I’d probably try one with less next time. Love the long wooden benches. Would easily accommodate a large group. But we’d replace the metal plates with real dishes to eat off of. neither pizza we got really tasted like traditional “pizza.” But if you’re into trying something different with fresh ingredients, we’d recommend it for a special occasion.

We had an early dinner at Pizzeria Deville Friday which was really good because when we left around 6:30pm all the tables were already taken and diners were waiting for tables. We asked Andrew, our server, his Motor City pizza recommendation. He said his favorite is the Farm Square which was very good! It had white cheddar, mozzarella, roasted sweet potatoes, carmelized onions, roasted broccoli and a pesto drizzle. It was delightfully crispy on the edges, pillowy soft for each bite and perfect for two people. We had roasted broccoli for starters which was deliciously roasted and garlicky. Too bad we didn’t have room for either the Nutella pizza or the Cinnamon Roll pizza for dessert. Next time we come, we’ll have one of those for our starter!

Although my family and I aren’t locals, we remember having a better experience 10 years ago. I wish I honestly had better things to say. There were 3 of us and we were sat in the basement. Service was quick and easy in the beginning, put in our drinks and appetizer order for BBQ chicken wings. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes just for the appetizer, half way through we ordered our pizza. We ended up cancelling the appetizer order when getting our pizza. It was alright but we assume that the pizza was already finished while they were cooking our wings because it was cold when we got it. Again, not sure if it’s because of the kitchen or because it’s a Friday. It’s unfortunate but they comped us for the appetizer. Cheers.

One star was given because the sunny side pizza was pretty tasty. Other than that this was the worst experience of eating out I've ever had. I ordered a bloody Mary my friend ordered an iced tea it took over 20 minutes to receive an ice tea and a bloody Mary. 20 minutes is way too long especially when there were only four full tables in the place. They ran out of coffee. They were out of French toast, they were out of green olives. They brought biscuits to the table that were cold, they did heat them up when I took them back to them. Everyone was brought their food at a different times so two of us were almost done with our pizza before one of our friends had even been brought her eggs. My friend finally received part of her meal and the rest of us were almost done and told at this point that they had run out of fruit. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told there wasn't one. Our server moved sooooo slow, and not friendly. After we questioned a bill she asked us if we like to speak with a manager (mind you we were just told there wasn't one there ) she presented us with Michelle. I complained that my friend was being charged for jam and biscuits and they didn't have the jam. We were specifically told they ran out of the seasonal jam and that they were just giving us the fig jam that they use on some pizzas. Instead of rectifying the situation Michelle walked away after informing us that our server was the owners daughter. And one of the chefs told them not to worry about it right in front of the group I was with. This was so unprofessional. I couldn't believe I was experiencing this. I will never be back at this restaurant ever again and I will never...

After having a great experience with Pizzeria Deville a couple weeks ago, it’s unfortunate that I need to leave a bad review, but my group and I had the WORST service we’ve ever experienced in our second visit to the establishment.

Like I mentioned above, our first visit to Pizzeria Deville was 5-star worthy: The service was attentive, the atmosphere was great, and the Focaccia appetizer & Motor City Square pizzas were fantastic.

However, we visited them again on a Sunday night with a group of three people and had the complete opposite experience. After ordering nearly the same food as our first visit, the service was terrible and the food was sub-par: We waited an hour for our food to be brought out, and the Motor City Square pizza was burnt to a crisp (and I don’t mean charred: The crust was so over-cooked that it was difficult to bite). We tried to tell our server about it, but due to the restaurant being extremely understaffed, he didn’t stop by our table for another 40 minutes. In all, we were at the restaurant over TWO hours, a large majority of the time sitting there waiting for something (whether it be the food, drink refills, or the bill), and our server only stopped by our table three times. While our server was friendly, he appeared to be the only waiter in the entire establishment and was clearly overstretched.

If you’re looking for a meal with at least semi-attentive service, I cannot recommend the restaurant, especially at the higher price point.

While I’d love to experience my fist visit to Pizzeria Deville again, my latest experience will...

From the doorway , one can see the wood-fired brick oven, the enormous shelf of split logs and art/decorations all about wood, antique saws, and of course, Pizza! Very attractive menu featuring brewpub-style favorite starters with a pizzeria twist- roasted Brussels sprouts, buffalo chicken meatballs, good looking salads- but the stars of the show are the pizzas! I ordered a classic margherita - puffy, tasty dough with great lightly charred edge & bottom and simple crushed tomato, fresh mozz & chopped basil. My wife ordered the Bianca with prosciutto and arugula- didn’t quite hit the mark. We also brought home a slab of Detroit-style pizza- jaw dropping puffy/chewy dough, cascades of meat & cheese. Service was very good- host was extremely personable, our waiter was quick to make us comfortable and laughing, made some great suggestions, too. Good selection of local/artisan beer in bottles and cans, draft selection modest, but on point, unpretentious cocktails, modest but decent wine options, wild soft drink/NA selections. Beautiful exposed wooden ceiling & quirky wall decor; wide open, but even with two families with kids nearby, never got noisy. Overall, we liked it enough to plan to go back- worth exploring more of the menu before repeating a dish! Enjoy the whole experience, leave room...
