This place is nontraditionally great. The bathrooms are clean, but trust me the tacos are still good! We went on a Tuesday and they have a $1 taco special on pollo, picadillo (ground beef), al pastor, and pescado. I also got carnitas, chorizo, and lengua ($2~$2.50). I got one of everything because I assumed they were small tacos. They weren't at all. They're a good value at normal price, but at a $1 they're ridiculously cheap.
Among the $1 specials, I highly recommend al pastor. I like pineapples but they didn't use them. It was very well seasoned pork and tasted a bit like chorizo. The pescado was a tad fishy but I'm very sensitive to fishiness, and the smoky sauce and lettuce largely overcame that. The pollo comes grilled or marinated, and the former was good but needs salsa. The picadillo was better than fast food tacos but not recommended. I'd rather get another al pastor.
The carnitas was so good. Great crispy texture and salted just enough to let the pork really shine. The chorizo was good, but I'd rather get the al pastor. The lengua was ok, but I'm spoiled by Catalina Taqueria by Hartsfield Jackson.
The tacos have a single layer tortillas! Fewer carbs, but they can rip easily if your taco is especially juicy. I much prefer the single tortillas. You can eat more tacos š. They put a lot of onions and cilantro, so mention if you want less. I love both, and they balance the large amount of meat.
I also got passion fruit drink and horchata. The drink was a bit syrupy and sweeter than I like, but at $2 + $1 refills, it's hard to complain. The horchata was light and a bit more cinnamon-y than expected. I like a thicker horchata but I wish more places were heavy handed with the cinnamon.
I'll be back every Tuesday and probably some other days. I'll probably get a few al pastors along with a taco each of carnitas and pescado. I'm always wary of asada at any one dollar sign place but I'll give it a try next time.
My only con is that they don't have a salsa/topping bar. The pollo and carnitas would have benefited from tomatillo or spicy salsa. Some radish would have been nice to cut...

Service: Not even two steps in, we were greeted with genuine smiles. The wait staff is friendly, welcoming and very attentive. Anything you need? No problem! Theyāve got you. You donāt even have to ask! They are quite understanding of nonverbal cues too. Donāt worry about someone breathing down your neck coming by every two seconds. They get it!
Cleanliness: This place has a 95/100 Health score for a reason. Absolutely spotless. Clean plates, utensils, tables and floors. Behind the corner is well kept too. Food preppers are stern about hand washing and gloves. You have no reason to doubt anything here.
Food: Last but certainly not least, this food... OMG! I highly recommend the tacos. Pastor (marinated pork) especially. You donāt know what youāre missing until youāve had this. They also had agua de mango (mango water), which very few places have... and it was ASTOUNDING!
Go here. Meet the staff. Eat the food. Get the experience....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the worst customer service experience ever in my life from the manager. I ordered chimichanga and I asked the girl who took the order was the cheese on the inside and she said no we can only put in on top but she never stated that it was queso and not shredded (kinda defeats the purpose of ordering a chimichanga unless you want it soggy that is). Too make long story short, the manager cut me off in mid conversation as well as tried to over talk me. I asked to speak with someone higher than her or give me a number and she stated āI will put my dad on the phoneā but prior to him getting on the phone, she held an entire conversation in spanish. Just a tip, just because a person is not Hispanic does not mean that they donāt speak or understand the language. Just all around rude until I spoke with her Dad who clarified that itās shredded cheese but if you donāt want it melted just ask for it on the side.
Signed,
Highly...
