The place looks amazing! Beautiful old downtown building. Great selection of beers, a decent wine list, and a craft bar.
The menu looks great, but the execution was inconsistent.
For a starter, I had the soup and salad combo. The spinach salad was very good with a warm bacon dressing, and the parmesan crisps were a great addition. The French onion soup was a bit on the thin side, and the crouton was burned and so dry that it wouldn't even absorb the soup. It floated like a dark brown life raft; I should have taken that as an omen and left it there. However, I was starving and had skipped lunch in anticipation.
For the main, I ordered the gnocchi with a cream pesto, and I also grilled chicken for a bit of protein. Sadly, it had such great promise, but it was not fulfilled. It arrived at my place, and the chicken was a bit...manhandled; it had obviously been either weighted or constantly pressed as it was quite black on one side and barely marked on the reverse side. That would have still been edible. However, the gnocchi had been similarly prepared. The gnocchi themselves had also been heavily seared, to the point of flavoring the entire dish. The sauce was burned and was simply inedible.
I sent it back to the kitchen and requested the pasta vodka sauce, again with grilled chicken, and it was served with a half dozen slices of baguette. This time, the chicken was well seasoned and was more braised than grilled, but it was good. The pasta was bucatini and cooked perfectly al dente, however grossly under salted. The vodka sauce was painfully thin and tasted of absolutely nothing at all. This barely sauced pasta dish simply wasn't worth eating.
Like many restaurants today, they use toasttab as their POS system and process the card at the table. I paid my bill and tipped the efficient server at 20%, using the one touch button on the keypad. Upon reviewing my statement, the bill seemed a bit higher than I had anticipated.
Upon reviewing the receipt, when the removed dish had been removed by crediting the amount of the returned item as a coupon. In doing this, the tip was calculated on the price of both the entrees, one of which I refused. Not quite as transparent as one would have hoped.
All in all, it has potential, and I'm hoping they were just having a bad night. The next time I find myself in the area, I might be willing to give it...

I had a terrible experience with The Met while trying to make reservations for my 30th birthday. I initially called on Monday to reserve a room for Friday night at 7 pm. The host suggested I speak with Liz, who handles bookings for private rooms. I connected with Liz, who told me about the “orange room” and said they needed an exact headcount to secure it. I explained that I didn’t have an exact number yet and asked if I could give an estimate, but she insisted on knowing the exact number in advance. This seemed unreasonable to me since the room accommodates up to 20 people, but I went along and reached out to my guests to get a firm count.
On Tuesday at 11 am, I called back with the final number, only to be told that Liz wasn’t available and that she’d call me back. She never did. I tried again on Wednesday, but still no response. By Thursday, I called three times, getting the same answer that Liz was unavailable and would call me back. Frustrated, I finally requested to speak with a manager. I spoke with Miranda, who took my information but was unhelpful, claiming that, with such "late notice," it might be impossible to reserve anything for a large group—even though I had been trying to book this room all week!
When I asked her directly if the room was available, she couldn’t give me a clear answer. She didn’t even offer to check, which was the final straw. I had my mother call to ask about availability, and Miranda told her immediately that the room was unavailable—contradicting what she’d just told me.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience. The lack of clear communication, accountability, and basic customer service ruined my birthday planning. If the room wasn’t available, they should have been upfront from the beginning rather than giving me the runaround. I expected much better from a place like The Met, but this experience has convinced me...
Read moreI reluctantly have to give a negative review. I was in town on business and because of the positive this restaurant had received, was really looking forward to eating here for lunch. The decor is great, as well as the staff was very nice as well. My complaint comes from one of the featured items that was recommended they recommended what is called the beast burger, which has a combination of different meats into a unique hamburger this item was one of the reasons I picked this restaurant to go for lunch. in the result a recommendation to the management is to take some time and give a lesson to all the cooks and how to make a good hamburger. First, I was never asked what temperature I wanted my burger cooked at when it came out it was almost well-done, and very hard the burger itself had black burnt marks on both sides, as well as the bun itself and black burn marks around the edges. In addition, the burger look like it was preformed ahead of time Mistake I made is I should’ve sent it back. They have a new one made, but I was short on time and did not have time to do that. I suggestion would be moving forward to make sure to ask customers what temperature they would like the burger cooked at, do not cook the hamburger from a pre-formed Patty. Have it in a round ball like a big ball forming in the patty as it gets placed on the grill. In addition, the really is no excuse to burn a basic hamburger bun. Unfortunately, the cook did both in addition if they are going to feature a burger such as this they should make sure to get...
