First time customer and dined in with my husband. I ordered General Tso’s chicken dinner #21. It was cold when it arrived to the table, half of the chicken was cooked ok, but half was overcooked and very dry. Same as the rice. Half of the rice tasted burnt, and half was ok. Under the top layer of the rice, you could see where it was mixed together. The sauce was not spicy, very mild. My chicken noodle soup had a strange taste and the chicken was rubbery and squeaky on my teeth. Never experienced that before. I did not eat the rest. My husband ordered the almond chicken dinner and told me that it was ok but lacked flavor. He liked his egg drop soup and the little crackers (with and without the sugar) though. He also did not want my chicken noodle soup. While the waitress was talking our order, she hit a fly on the wall with her order book. There were little gnats flying all over our area. The wall next to us was absolutely filthy (see picture). My husband said the men’s bathroom was also disgusting and needed cleaned. All of their supplies (placemats, silverware, to-go boxes, etc) were sprawled out on a table in the main dining room. It looked cluttered and was right next to where the waitress hit the wall to get the fly. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was as busy as it was based on our first experience. Perhaps it was an unusual experience, but we will not return. You do receive a lot of food for your order, but the amount of food doesn’t matter when it’s not something you want to eat. I’m disappointed because the reviews were mostly positive for this place, which what helped make our decision to go here.

Very Good Food (Recommend "To Go" or Delivery) My family has been going to Cathay House for 40 years. It has recently changed owners, and upon entering, there were a lot of changes. Much brighter dining room (which I think is a plus), but there was a table of dirty dishes there when we were seated that wasn't cleaned up for 10+ minutes (despite there being only our table and one other seated - they weren't very busy). Also a small child's toys were in one corner, and the child was in/out of the kitchen (see picture). The service was average at best. To be honest, we discussed just leaving without ordering food. I'm glad we stuck it out. The food was as good as we remember it, despite changes in ownership, etc. The egg drop soup is thick and flavorful - easily one of the best I've had. Their egg rolls ARE the best I've had, filled with bean sprouts and a few tiny shrimp (compared to the cabbage egg rolls at most places). Our party ordered the Almond Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, and the Woo Dip Harr - and everyone thought their dish was as good as they remembered it being (and better than the other Chinese restaurants in the area). The coffee wasn't very good, but I had low expectations on that front. Based on the service and the environment, I wouldn't be keen on dining in again (and certainly wouldn't bring a date). But I would absolutely order "to go", as the food was really good. I'd give the food 5 stars, and the service 2 or 3 (but didn't want to average this out to a 3 star, because you really should try the food!)

Updated review 12/14/2024 Let's start by saying nice atmosphere when walking in to lobby to pick up carry out , the portion size was very large which was a plus got a quart of chicken chop suey and added shrimp and mushroom , also ordered quart of shrimp fried rice and 2 egg rolls , the chop suey was good and plentiful it just lacked flavor but the sprouts in it were crunchy like I like and not soggy , just the right amount of juice in it not drowned like some places do ,just like I said though not enough flavor , the shrimp fried rice you get a tonin that order packed full of shrimp and the container is overflowing , the egg rolls are pretty good but the hot mustard for the egg rolls is phenomenal ....the cashier was the sweetest lady and I appreciated her kindness ....now where I knocked off a star ⭐ is price , while you get plenty of food it was almost $40 for that $37.99 to be exact I was floored I didn't expect that I was figuring more around $25-$28 for it since I added shrimp . Overall I would order her again but be mindful of the prices but at least I know for next time myself .....recommend trying if your near and hankering for some Chinese food .......... Previous review Only ordered the egg rolls but seems like a nice place looks clean and they were excited to get orders ready when I walked in they were right on top of getting everything looks like I'll be trying this place again

China Bowl is a Chinese restaurant that offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. With over 22 combination dinners to choose from, the restaurant provides an extensive menu that caters to different tastes and preferences. During my recent visit, I had the opportunity to explore their offerings and was impressed by the selection.

One of the highlights at China Bowl is the assortment of fried rice options. With various combinations and flavors available, there's something to suit every palate. Whether you're a fan of classic pork fried rice or prefer a more adventurous choice like shrimp or vegetable fried rice, the restaurant has you covered. The fried rice dishes are well-prepared, packed with flavor, and served in generous portions.

In addition to the fried rice, China Bowl offers a range of appetizers, including Spring rolls and egg rolls. These crispy delights make for a perfect start to any meal, providing a satisfying crunch and a burst of flavors. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of other appetizers, allowing diners to sample and explore different tastes.

The selection of soups at China Bowl is worth mentioning as well. The wonton soup, in particular, stood out during my visit. The flavorful broth and delicate wontons made for a comforting and enjoyable starter. Whether you're a fan of wonton soup or prefer other options like hot and sour soup or egg drop soup, China Bowl has a variety of choices to satisfy your soup cravings.

Moving on to the main courses, China Bowl offers a diverse range of dishes that cater to different preferences. Some notable options include the Orange Chicken, Almond Chicken, Fried Shrimp, and several Szechuan dinners. The Orange Chicken, in particular, impressed me with its perfectly crispy coating, tangy orange glaze, and tender chicken pieces. The Almond Chicken was equally delightful, featuring a flavorful sauce and a satisfying blend of chicken and crunchy almonds. The variety of Szechuan dinners showcases the bold and spicy flavors of this regional cuisine, providing a satisfying and adventurous dining experience.

Overall, China Bowl is a Chinese restaurant that delivers a wide selection of dishes to please any appetite. With its extensive menu of more than 22 combination dinners, various fried rice options, appetizers, soups, and other dinner choices, the restaurant offers something for everyone. The Orange Chicken, Almond Chicken, and the selection of Szechuan dinners were highlights for me, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor. Whether you're craving classic Chinese favorites or looking to explore new dishes, China Bowl is a reliable choice that...

The food was good, but service absolutely disgusting. Our waitress was horrifying. I told the lady before we even took our order that I had three special needs children with me, so I had to show her pictures of what they wanted to eat because I didn't know where to find it on the menu. So she proceeds to start giving me a hard time by telling me that's not their menu. I said I know that I have to show you pictures because two of the children can't read and one is speech-impaired and the other one is also cognitive impaired. I stated that I was trying to show her through pictures that way it would make it easier for her to give them what they want through her menu. Then as I told her that my daughter and I were going to split a lunch and I know it only comes with one egg roll and one wonton soup and that I wanted to order one for me a soup and egg roll and she started biting my head off. Then she went to walk away and I said they would like to order something to drink can you please come back and she got pissed off about that.so when I asked her could she please bring me a soup and bring me an egg roll that she forgot about me she proceeded to yell at me 15 ft away and the restaurant that I didn't order that and so on and so on so two other couples that were sitting by me said something to me that they heard me order the soup and the egg roll. And that I did tell her I had special needs children with me. So what does she do the kids did not even get a chance to finish their soup in egg roll and she started shoving The lunch hot plates on the table to where I had to get up out of my seat and move the drinks and other plates away from the kids to make sure that she did not burn them. She never came back cleaned our table off or offer the kids something else to drink, so I tried to give the other boy some of my water so that he could have something to drink and I end up spilling some on the table and spilling water on him as well. 017767 my ticket no $69.30. this lady was so disrespectful I have never in all my years of going out to eat never tipped someone, but today was a first. My thing is is the customer is always right and you should never disrespect anyone in a place of business that you want people to come back to your restaurant and eat. I told the lady in purple that the waitress lady was so disrespectful and she tried to give me her name but I could not understand her. With that being said I paid my bill and left.. Very very disappointed as it was my first time ever going to this...
