El Potrero Mexican Restaurant - South — Restaurant in Lincoln

First of all our server was attentive and friendly. Chips tasted like old dirty oil. My carne asada burrito was a tortilla filled with way overcooked steak with no seasoning at all covered in white cheese dip, even covered in liquidy queso somehow super dry. Bland beans and mushy rice to accompany. Wife had enchiladas with unseasoned hamburger and enchilada sauce that tasted like nothing. Ordered a Modelo and drank that one, got a second, due to the Sahara desert in my throat from dry steak, and because I like beer. My wife pointed to my bottle and the best by date was 18 months expired. I'm sure I'm not going to die from it, but you can see where their standards are. Pointed it out to the server and he was very apologetic about it and was nice enough to take that beer off my bill. I, personally, would have taken the other beer off the bill or maybe the wife's drink to make up for such an awful oversight but they get this review instead. That aside, the food was horrible. I'm pretty sure that my 95 year old white Grandpa, that hates garlic and salt, could whip up a better burrito with a goat and an onion. There are way better...

I've been to El Potrero south on 4 separate occasions. My first 2 were 5* experiences. Great food, great service, couldn't ask for more. But consistency is the key to a successful restaraunt and they do not have that here. I had the al pastor all 4 times. The first two times it was perfect and came as advertised on the menu (pineapple, onions, cilantro). It was tender and seasoned just how I like it. The 3rd time I went the tacos were overloaded with meat (cool right?) But no. The meat was flavorless and greasy, just dripping in red sauce and no cilantro, onions, or pineapple on the tacos, just meat. I thought maybe they had an off night so I decided to try again and it was even worse. Margaritas came with no salt which was rhe first indicator. My glass had salt the other 3 times. But the al pastor was borderline inedible and I did not finish my meal. Meat was tough, greasy, and the only flavor was salt. There was onions but no cilantro or pineapple. I will not be going back. $80 for dinner and drinks for 3 is way too much to walk away...

It was great. Our family was celebrating my grandson's 11th birthday. WE were relieved frankly not to have to hassle with the parking problems compared to your Haymarket previous location. The building is so much more accommodating. Our food was served in a very timely manner & was very excellent at expected. My grandson knew he had to come to La Palomas because you "have the best quacamole Evveer because it tastes as good as Moms"! ! I, as a senior citizen, enjoyed the much easier entrance to the building directly from the door side parking. I can't say enough good things about our experience. I want to recognize our waitress for our party of 4 adults, an 11 yr old & 2 small children. She was very efficient, pleasant & checked often tossed if we needed anything. Thank you for having a big part to do with making my grandson's 11th birthday "the best birthday evverr". HE meant ever too ❤.
