This was my Dad's favorite place to eat, bar none, for many many years. I never had the opportunity to join him here for a meal, but while in town after his passing, I made it a point to come and try the place for myself. The owner, who attended my Dad's funeral and I was fortunate enough to meet, wasn't in the day I visited, but two of the other staff working that day knew my Dad well, and each shared little stories about him, and informed me that when he wasn't getting around as well, they would occasionally take food to him at his home nearby if they hadn't seen him for a few days. The staff here is the epitome of the type of character you used to see everywhere, everyday, and what this country needs to get back to. I overheard a story during my visit of just what these type of people are all about. I won't say exactly what it was they had done, but they helped out a regular customer that day in a fashion you don't see anywhere else. I very quickly understood why my Dad loved this place for so many years. I had the biscuits and gravy, one of my Dad's favorites according to the staff, which is hands down the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I never thought a place could too the biscuits and gravy at Johnson's corner in Colorado where I live, but Woodee's nailed it!! I don't know who will read this, or where you might be from, but if youve never eaten here, do yourself a favor and experience what I have no doubt, is something us folks who have had a meal two out and about, miss experiencing, truly good people, and truly good food. You will not be disappointed, just as my Dad wasn't for I don't even know how many decades. RIP Dad, and know that I will visit these wonderful folks, and try another one of your favorite menu items anytime...
Read moreWoodee's place is as good as home-cooked and fills a body up. The service is friendly, genuine and they remember names. The community needs to bolster support for this family restaurant.
New business next door 'inadvertently' removed Woody's marquee sign and placed it in the dumpster during their renovations. As a result, no one can see that Woody's is still open and doing good business. The remodeling construction is not a clean site job - sharp metal screws that didn't make it into the roll-off, can be found in the parking lot. This sends a negative message for the roll-off company and the other shops in the area: Mai's Market, True Value, West Gate Bank, Wachal's Veterinary and Valentino's.
Woodee's is a locally-owned, family business on West 'O', close to downtown that is known and has many patrons who travel from out of town and bring more business to major Lincoln events. Woodee's new neighbors may not be intentional strip mall bullies, but they are definitely showing outward actions of not playing nice. This is my own opinion as a local customer. Please drive by and give your view.
A new sign for Woodee's shouldn't take more than a couple of days to replace - especially when one considers that their appetizing menu item, the Morning Woodee has...
Read moreWoodees is a typical Midwest diner, but with service issues, even though the waitstaff tried. The food is very slow to come out of the kitchen.
We picked a table, which all the empty ones were dirty. One of the servers caught my eye and said she would be over to clean it off. She was friendly and took our drink orders, but forgot to leave the menus 😀. I grabbed menus as everyone was busy. The table next to us let us know they had been waiting over 30 mins for their food. Another server came and asked to take our drink orders and since we didn't see the other one again, we ordered with her. She didn't have positive words about the other server. Turns out someone called in that day, but it shouldn't have caused that much chaos. The food coming out slowly is definitely their biggest issue. The food was ok, definitely not worth the...
