City Lunch — Restaurant in Lincolnton

Maybe I'm not the one to ask, since I've only been coming here for parts of 7 decades...but, honestly...I cannot think of a better place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. The food is consistently great, and at ridiculously low prices.

I've never gotten my fill of their famous hot dog. I've always just run out, or stopped from embarrassment. Breakfast is fantastic if you like hot, home cooking.

Lunch menus are varied, and always offer good southern cooking, square meal plate lunches, as well as hot dogs, burgers and more. Heck, most people I know get the plate lunch and a dog or two.

Burgers are a secret, and sometimes live in the shadow of the famous hot dogs, but they are first rate.

Pro tip: order the stew beef sandwich when stew beef is on the menu...you'll get two pieces of bread with stewed beef inside and over the top. Mushy deliciousness.

Dang. At the prices they charge, just get it all. There's a reason this family-owned cafe has been in business so long. It's good. Every time. Or at least that's what I've experienced for 55+ years.

Edit - I was turned away during breakfast hours obviously and I know it’s same family but it’s different ppl. I know order families ago ate there every day and now eat at home place for the same issue. Just because it’s the same family doesn’t mean it’s the same hospitality. The new ppl in there are rude and will run it in the ground.

Tried to come eat several times for breakfast and was turned away. Miss the old staff. The ppl running it now don’t do things quite the same and are not friendly at all. Also if you’re eating here, eat and go on. You’re not letting other ppl eat cause you wanna sit around and chit chat for hours. Anyways, Won’t be back after turned away too...

Simply Put. You will not find a better hotdog in the State of NC than you will right here at City Lunch. We've been eating here for years and we always get 10 or 12 dogs to go. Our entire family loves these awesome HotDogs. I love their Burgers as well. All The Way, is there another way to eat a Burger? I'll make you a challenge. You may find a hotdog with more stuff on it but it wont be more tasty than City Lunch. Try this out for size. A delicious hotdog for Less Than a Buck! Eat 3 or 4 and not bust your wallet!
