So first things first, I’ve probably left 3 bad reviews in my entire life. It really takes a lot for me to feel compelled to do that. However, yesterday was definitely one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had there as well as at a restaurant in general. But, it’s not the first one I’ve had there but yesterday was definitely the worst. So yesterday my family and I decided to go eat there. We arrived, placed our order and proceed to make our drinks. For starters, all the sodas were flat and the tea tasted burnt. After trying almost everything, we finally settled for sprite which wasn’t terrible. Even the fruit punch for the kids was just water. I know it’s just a drink but we paid for them. But regardless I could have looked past that. So side note, our order was essentially a cheeseburger, a sandwich two orders of chicken tenders, fries, and tater tots, nothing crazy big. Well, 30 minutes go by and I kinda walk up tote front to check it out and the girl behind the register says” we are just waiting for another order of chicken tenders, we didn’t notice there was two on the ticket”. I felt like at the very least they could have communicated that as that’s a very long time for the amount of food we ordered. Finally our food comes out and I realize an order of tater tots wasn’t there. Yet again I go up there and 15 minutes later they finally show up. The food was good but half of it was cold from sitting up front soo long. At this point we were there almost and hour and a half. After finishing our food, my wife goes up there to get a box for the leftovers and the girl behind the counter doesn’t even notice her standing there for a long time because she was too busy on Snapchat. Honestly, this was such a bad experience. Especially because I spent like 60 dollars there. Now before anyone says “ it’s due to them being busy”, the dinning room was pretty much empty. It will be a long time before I go back if ever considering this isn’t the first time something of this sort has happened. I once waited an hour and a half on a to go order of hotdogs but that’s a different story for a...
Read moreVisited today on the advice of other postings. Was NOT happy with the experience. I ordered a Reuben style sandwich that was not good at all. The meat was overcooked and crispy or burnt, with the bread barely toasted. It also had a very small amount of meat and toppings on it for the $10 price, and any fries or sides are EXTRA. Sandwich was definitely NOT worth $10. My wife's burger was ok, at best. The bad part of it was the VERY thickly sliced onion on it. It was a good 1/2“ thick. Guess they don't know how to slice onions correctly. Lastly, the fries were undercooked and maybe, room temperature. They were NOT fresh or hot by any stretch. All in all, the meal cost two people $35 and was not worth it at all. I would have gotten better food at Zaxby's for much less money. We will not be coming back.
Update: to reply if we let anyone know while we were there, no we did not. It would not have made a difference. I sincerely doubt that either the portion would have been enlarged to justify the high prices, or the prices lowered accordingly. Yes, they could have recooked everything to be much better, but at that point, it's not worth it. You have one chance to make a good impression, and what is being served is not worthy of the quality that could be provided for the price point be requested. I always try to visit homegrown family businesses and are highly happy and pleased with the results the vast majority of the time. Unfortunately, I hope that Vittles does see the unhappy posts and does something about it. I don't like seeing family businesses struggle...
Read moreThis was honestly some of the worst food I've ever had. It lacked all flavor. The joke in our family is that now when the kids misbehave, we threaten to take them back to Vittles.
(I usually wouldn't leave a negative review, but the older server lady--who I think also may be an owner--was extremely rude to us. Bad food and bad service are a bad combo. Anyway, do yourself a favor and find another place to eat.)
**I don't know how to reply to your questions, but it'll let me edit so here goes. Yes, it was definitely Vittles in downtown Lincolnton. It was several months ago. We were passing through and stopped in because my wife thought the name was cute. The woman who was rude was heavyset and in her 50s or 60s. Again, I hate leaving a negative review and figured I'd forget about it, but I was back in Lincolnton at Christmas and figured I should warn other people. Let me just say, I've eaten at a lot of restaurants and sometimes have negative experiences, but I never post reviews. Vittles unfortunately stood out for both its food and service, but in...
