When I found out Sammies opened up a restaurant here in Lindenhurst, I was more than thrilled. So tonight March 9 we decided to have Sammies for dinner and placed an order for pick up for four people. The bill came to just about $80 which is high but you know everything’s gone up. I went to pay for it over the phone but they were having issues so I just told him I’d pay for it when I got there. They said it would be 10 to 15 minutes. We don’t live far away so we got there about 15 minutes later and our order was ready so I went to pay for it. They told me how much the order was. Just under $80 so I gave them my credit card and I signed the receipt. So when I got my receipt and the receipt was for almost $90 I asked him why he told Me the lower price but yet when I paid for it, he didn’t mention it, or it didn’t appear in the total until after I paid for it. They didn’t mention this over the phone, so I was rather confused. When I asked the individual behind the counter, why my bill was higher than what he told me, He simply advised that’s the credit card fee. I asked him why he didn’t inform me of the credit card fee over the phone when I placed the order or why there wasn’t a sign near the register or he neglected to tell me before I paid for it I was going to be paying a $12 fee for using a credit card. And with a very sarcastic, condescending voice he said it’s on the door. Why would it be on the door? And why would you tell me a bill is $78.22 and then when I pay the bill it’s almost $90? Had he told me I was paying a $12 service fee I wouldn’t have bought the food. It’s that simple. That fee should show up in the total not after you pay for it. When we got to the restaurant there were people walking out so the door was open so there was no way I could see the sign. It should’ve been posted at the cash register. They should’ve told us before we paid and it should’ve showed up in the total. It’s bad enough that places keep jacking up the price but now they want to pass on the cost of credit card usage to the consumer. I don’t mind paying some fees but I don’t want them to be a surprise and I sure as heck don’t like it when some condescending little child and the manager on duty treat customers as if they’re idiots. This is not the Sammies I remember. To make matters worse, The food was subpar as well. The fries were stale. I understand that the Italian beef I asked for for was to be dipped, but there was nothing left of the bread. It was soggy, and I couldn’t even hold the sandwich together. I paid for extra cheese and barely got any. The chicken tenders were just a little larger than A steak cut french fry. I didn’t think he could screw up the chicken tender, but Sammy’s managed to do that as well. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed. I will never be going back to Sammy‘s and it’s a shame they fallen along the way side like every other business. Customer service doesn’t matter. Food quality doesn’t matter. Portion size keeps getting smaller. Prices get outrageous. It’s just getting ridiculous what we put up with. It’s sad that consumers keep putting up with subpar food and subpar customer service. I miss the days when a business actually cared about taking care of their customers. I just can’t remember...
Read moreSo the reason why for the 1 star is because the experience didn't make sense. We tried to pay with apple pay twice. They said their wifi was down. We ran to our car to grab a card. And again that didn't work bc they said their wifi was down. We already had our drinks and the food was already made as well. So instead of the staff trying to fix the problem - they said their internet is down and asked for cash. It's 2025, we didn't have any cash on us!!! Hence why we tried to pay with apple pay in the first place. So instead of them trying to fix the problem on their end ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THE FOOD WAS ALREADY MADE!!! - We had to leave. Waste of their food, and waste of their time. We will never be back due to that poor experience. Yes it was out of their control but they wasted their own money on making their food in the...
Read moreSammie’s of Lindenhurst gives off major vintage hot dog stand vibes—in the best way possible. The staff here is super friendly and welcoming, and the cooks? Fast as lightning. You barely have time to find a seat before your food’s ready, which is always a plus.
This isn’t your typical fast food joint like Burger King or McDonald’s. Sure, it’s casual dining, but the flavor is on a whole other level. The burgers and hot dogs are seriously tasty, and everything has that homemade, no-shortcuts feel.
If you stop by, do yourself a favor and order the double Sam with cheese. The burger tastes like real, fresh beef—not frozen patties—and you can tell it’s made right there in-house. It’s the kind of local spot that deserves way...
