El Burrito Mexicano — Restaurant in Lisle

Loved going here before. Now it is horrible! The waitress has the worst attitude ever!!!! My avocado came on my taco black! We pay about 80 cents extra for a black little sliver of avocado! So like anyone else I went to the counter and asked for a new slice that wasn't black, and the cashier told me all of them are black to just deal with it. Really?! So I had my husband go up and ask for the new avocado because she was so rude, and of course the cook had no choice but to look for a good avocado that wasn't black and finally gave us the good slice of avocado. Not only this is the only problem. Since they changed owners or since the skinny short mexican man that worked as the cashier and cook left the food has gotten horrible! The sauces are watered down now. The sauces is what brought us in this restaurant to begin with bit now they have no flavor! And to top all of this off, the woman's bathroom had a major plumbing problem where the pipes made this loud noise that sounded like someone was going to break down the door. My 6 yr old daughter was washing her hands and there was no sign warning the customers of this loud sound. When the noise started my daughter started screaming so frightened by this noise that my husband almost broke the door down because he too thought someone was trying to break down the walls to get in. The same cashier that refused to give me the nonblack avocado told my husband that we should not have washed our hands because the sound scared her. Again realy?!?!?! We can't wash our hands in there before we eat!? Wow?! Just so much disrespect! No sign was posted on the door! How would we know this noise was going to start!!! I am so disappointed. I ordered veggie tacos and specifically told the lady what to put inside: beans, rice, cheese, onion, and cilantro. I get hoke and check my tacos and they are just tortillas and rice?! I called at 9:40 (they close at 10) just asking them to correct my order and she said no you can bring it back tomorrow bc we are closed. Even tho they’re clearly open until 10. It took them 10 mins to make my order and I live 5 mins away there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be an easy fix. The girl then hung up the phone on me and kept on telling me to come tomorrow. I explained to her that I work until 11pm the rest of the week and can’t come. I asked to speak to a manager or anyone else there and she said nobody else was there and she was alone. She then proceeded to laugh at me.

This is so disappointing bc this place was my go to and now i will never go again. I will most definitely be giving them a call back tomorrow and making sure I get a refund. If she was nice about it I wouldn’t care but she was rude by hanging up the phone, not helpful at all, and to top it off thought it was a good idea to laugh at me. Not amazing not horrible, used to think they were the best but i think the service has been majorly inconsistent. Over the course of the last 20 years ive been coming here the quality fluctuates. I get steak burritos, steak tacos, bistec a la mexicana, had huevos con chorizo once or twice, and a few others. The bistec a la mexicana and the pork tamales are probably the best they have to offer. The steak is grizzly though and not cooked to perfection like they used to. They are quick which i think may be there downfall. When paying 7 bucks for a burrito they should take their gd time and put the love that they used to into there product. Maybe you'll get lucky but now with many other Mexican options closeby i choose to go other places and on very rare occasions since last year come here out of convenience. I haven't had many problems with the tamales they are some of the best around and i don't like tamales at a whole lot of places. There's are juicy and tender meat, haven't tried the chicken many times but the pork is where it's at...
