Morningside Cafe — Restaurant in Lisle

Me and My Bestfriend came here to have a brunch and the place itself is rude and very disrespectful. We had an issue with both of our plates as far as hash browns not being fully cooked and we sent them back three times and still came with uncooked hash brown. I myself ordered stuffed strawberry French toast with mascarpone and I informed my waiter one time that I didn’t like it and wanted an extra side of mascarpone to try and see if I just needed extra mascarpone; just to receive the mascarpone and it tasted like butter. We informed her that neither of us were satisfied with our plates but katie(the waiter) continued to disregard us and kept Walking away as my bestfriend tried to get her attention to attend to us. We got the bill and asked Katie to take off my French toast because I didn’t eat it at all and we asked to speak to the manager and he proceeded to say we had to pay for everything that was at the table. We then called the police to inform them of the situation and what was going on and told them we felt we were being discriminated against but didn’t truthfully want to think we were. The dispatcher stayed on the phone with us the whole entire time we were there gathering our things to leave the restaurant.When the manager realized we were on the phone with the police he then decided to come and take off my order from the ticket and then still proceeded to kick us out after he came back to our table with the receipt. The police arrived after I paid for my bestfriends food and we told him the situation and he walked us out of the restaurant to our cars. For over a year, I've been a loyal patron of this charming restaurant that exclusively serves breakfast and lunch. The food they offer never fails to amaze me with its exceptional quality and taste. Came here last Sunday morning. The place has been around for a while. Old school restaurant look and feel that is clean and well maintained. The men’s washroom is immaturely clean. The plates, cups and silverware were clean and not worn. The owner and folks who work here care about this place and about the customer experience.

For breakfast I got the Morningside Skillet with scrambled eggs. This was served in a small cast iron skillet filled with has browns, breakfast sausage, bacon, green peppers, white onions, and mushrooms, topped with scrambled eggs. Top this with habanero sauce-they have a bottle on each table- and it’s a delicious spicy meal. They give you a lot of food in these skillets!

The coffee was hot and fresh. They provide raw sugar on each table and that’s what I mix in my coffee. The whole wheat toast was toasted near perfect and the packaged butter was easy to spread on the toast.

Our server was awesome, friendly, professional, prompt and always came at the right time to refill our coffee. She was and still is amazing asset to this place.
