Skinny Chef 👨‍🍳 — Restaurant in Lithonia

Dinner for 2 As we approached the restaurant we were lucky enough to find some street parking. We arrived about a half hour before closing time.  The restaurant has a small area for outside seating and a few tables inside if you want to dine in.   We entered the restaurant and waited at the counter for about 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order.  We contemplated leaving, but decided to hang in there.  Then we realized the guy taking orders was also cooking the food.  I think he was also the owner of the restaurant.  We could tell he was a little frustrated, but he was cordial while taking our order.  I ordered the Fried Shrimp with yellow rice,  grilled peppers and onion.  Wifey ordered the Fried Shrimp with fries and cole slaw.  The food took about 15 mins to be prepared.  The chef/owner brought out the food and opened the containers so we could verify our orders.   The orders came out as expected.  Everything was still warm when we arrived home. The shrimp were a medium size, but very fresh and seasoned well.  Same for the yellow rice with peppers and onion, tasty and seasoned well.  Wifey also really enjoyed her meal.   We will definitely go back to support this small local business in...

The food is fried a nice color I had whitening fish and shrimp however I believe fish is wild caught because it has such a strong fish taste which is the fish I don’t like but it is fried perfectly the shrimp were good and seasoned well. His potato salad is good as well it has relish in it and I don’t like pickles or relish so that’s the only reason I wouldn’t order but I still tried to eat it even with the relish because the taste is good. He has a skinny dip sauce which is his brand tarter sauce I don’t care for sauce I just want regular tarter however my hubby thought the sauce was good af. This review is from someone who is currently pregnant so that could be why as well. The fries were good and I don’t even like crinkle fries but I ate his.

He does not do phone orders you have to go in person and it take about 10 min to make the food. He open wed-sun closing at 5 pm I don’t know what time he open I believe 11

The Chef unfortunately works alone, so it takes time to get your food, and at this time due to a staff shortage, you MUST walk in and order ONLY. I'm not lowering his ratings because he can't find people who actually want to work. I'm a Corporate Recruiter and deal with that issue every day! The pandemic has created a lazy workforce, so businesses are doing the best they can! The food is cooked fresh to order and therefore piping hot. Everything is fresh, well seasoned, and he provides LARGE portions, not stingy at all! The Skinny Chef has great positive energy and CLEARLY cooks with LOVE!
