Tuccillo’s Tomato Pies:
Let’s get this out of the way: this is not pizza. Calling it pizza is like calling a Ferrari “just a car.” This is a Trenton-style tomato pie, and it deserves respect. And maybe a standing ovation.
The crust is so thin and crisp it could moonlight as a gourmet chip. The sauce? I’d drink it from a wine glass with my pinky out. It’s that good. And the mozzarella? Perfectly savory and in just the right amount, not a greasy cheese flood, but a classy, flavorful melt that knows its role.
I’ve devoured the sausage and pepper, pepperoni, and traditional tomato pies, and each one hit like a flavor symphony. Then I dipped into the gluten-free lineup. I tried the margarita and the broccoli white pie and even without gluten, these pies slap. Hard.
Michael, the owner, isn’t just making pies… he’s crafting masterpieces. He’s basically the Michelangelo of mozzarella, except instead of painting ceilings, he’s redefining what goes in a box.
You’ll also appreciate the warm and friendly atmosphere inside the restaurant, where we were seated.
If you’re within 50 miles and not eating Tuccillo’s, what are you even doing with your life? Go get a tomato pie. Your taste buds will thank you.

As a vegan, I wasn't sure what to expect walking into a place famous for tomato pies—but wow, The Chippy blew me away. This is Trenton-style tradition with a Mystic Island twist! The pie was a beautiful, balanced harmony of tangy tomato sauce laid right on that crisp, coal-fired crust—no cheese needed. Just pure, bold flavor that transported me straight to the old-school boardwalks, minus the seagulls and sand.
And let me just say—the house salad deserves its own spotlight. Fresh, vibrant greens, cherry tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, and a light vinaigrette that danced on the palate without overpowering anything. Simple, clean, and totally satisfying.
Tucillo’s is more than just a pizza joint—it’s a love letter to Jersey’s tomato pie roots, wrapped in local charm and served with a smile. Can’t wait...

The traditional plain was hit with everyone, even the kids! Our favorite was a margarita one with basil. We also had the large antipasto salad (and wine - it’s BYO) which satisfied our group while we waited for Chef Tuccillo’s pizza pies! Customer service and wait staff is professional and attentive.
