I've been waiting for months for Hotpot Den to open and I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint!
My brother and I tried two different broths: spicy and spicy miso, both of which were delicious. The spice level on both were perfect - lending the right amount of spice to the ingredients without being overpowering. (The broths do get spicier as they cook/reduce). The spicy miso was a touch less spicy than the spicy, with a slightly more subtle flavor.
We tried just about all of the meat and seafood options and I can't say that any of them disappointed. This was the first time that either of us had tried "seafood mushrooms" and we were both wildly impressed with them! The only thing we tried that I wouldn't recommend is the lobster balls - they're basically imitation crab balls. But it's all-you-can-eat, so feel free to try them and see if you feel differently!
Lastly, the service was OUTSTANDING! Our waiter checked in on us at regular intervals to see if we wanted more of anything and was incredibly personable!
In summation, my first experience here was outstanding and I absolutely can't wait for...
Read moreJust had for dinner tonight and the food was delicious and the service was great. We have been waiting forever for this place to open. There was a great variety of meat and veggies.
The only reason I rated it down one star was because they don’t offer kitchen scissors. I ordered shrimp which came with shells on, and I couldn’t get them peeled. They were not pre-cracked or anything. I’m sure if I worked at it I would have gotten it but I have arthritis in my knuckles so it wasn’t worth it. I haven’t been to any other HotPot that didn’t offer them. And I did ask the waiter and they said they didn’t have any extras in the kitchen.
Will definitely go again. Very tasty with...
Read moreThe service was very slow. It took over 20 minutes before anyone took our order, and we had to flag servers down several times during the meal. We ordered a second soda, but it never arrived.
The layout is an all-you-can-eat option, where you can pick your broth, meats, and vegetables. I chose the fish broth with shrimp, lobster balls, oyster mushrooms, and bok choy. The shrimp still had heads, shells, and veins, which made them unpleasant to eat.
They list soju on the menu, but don’t have a liquor license yet. It was a busy Friday night, so maybe they’re still working through service issues, but the overall experience fell short...
