Black Point Market may look like your average neighborhood corner store, however it is anything but! They have the most amazing eats and sips in Santa Cruz...from breakfast-lunch-dinner and free coffee on Fridays too. We wandered in on a Friday night, and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome by Sasha the owner and the incredible aroma of grilled pressed sandwiches and fresh cookies being baked. There is good and then there is great…and this place is the later. Everything is made with love and locally sourced ingredients. I have tried every sandwich on the menu some twice (cuban) and the secret menu…add ago and bacon to your turkey melt…to die for! What makes this place so good is the excellent service, attention to quality ingredients and all order to please you. If you are a local or visiting find this place…you will not be disappointed. PS…they love furry...
Read moreThe food was okay at best, and it was the smallest burrito I've seen in my life. Typically I consider a burrito to be a meal, but this was more of a mid day snack. I can't say I've eaten a burrito before and still been hungry. The flavor was alright, but overall it just wasn't impressive.
In the past, I've had good experiences with this place, but it seems that with the change in management, the quality has dropped significantly.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was well kept, but it seems management has changed the menu, reduced portions, and removed key items such as carnitas and pastor from the menu.
Overall, it just wasn't what it used to be, and there's better...

I can understand change in ownership switching to halal (though the carnitas was legendary), but all the other changes to menu seem like either a rookie move or gross over-confidence. The shop had so many regulars. I hope they can return to center a bit. I used to eat there 4 times a week. Now with the bridge closures, delivery takes forever. I'd probably be doubling that number except the burrito I finally tried today for the first time since they switched the menu just wasn't good. It was cooked well, the cook made it well. But it didn't taste like the Pericos super burrito I loved so much. Genuinely want this place to succeed — hope...
